Organiser's Description

Do3 would like to welcome you to a multisport weekend in Compton Verney, Warwickshire. With various race distances available across the two days we're sure you'll find something to challenge you! This year we have introduced children's races and for those who REALLY like a challenge, the Do3 Black long distance weekend!

The swim takes place in the Capability Brown designed lake surrounded by beautiful trees, with transition overlooking the grassy bowl. Once the swim is done it is out onto the sprint bike course around the Warwickshire countryside. Once the bike course is completed competitors return to the venue to start the run around the local area before finishing in style in front of the amazing lake and trees. This is a special race at a beautiful venue that is suitable for all abilities. Whether you are a newbie looking to dip your toe in the water, or a hardened racer wanting to go full-gas from the gun, this race is for you.

Course Details

Swim in the lake in grounds designed by Capability Brown, ride around a mostly flat course (with an initial/final climb) with plenty of fast flats. Suitable for all bikes. The run will be on trails, public footpaths and roads around the Compton Verney hamlet.

Swim

400m swim in the beautiful Capability Brown designed lake. Competitors will start in a trickle format in pairs, swimming a single lap of this beautiful tree lined lake.

Bike

The 21km bike course is mostly flat and fast, so great for both beginners and speed merchants looking to blitz a great bike time. The route heads out towards the Edge Hill escarpment before turning left to head towards Burton Dassett. Another left turn takes you up to Gaydon where you turn left again and head back to the finish via Kineton. The bike course is gently undulating, with the most notable hill soon after leaving Compton Verney, and the same hill on the return to the main venue. It is not a technically challenging route and is suitable for all types of bikes.

Distance - 21.5k

Total elevation - 181m

Road types and conditions - Mostly minor roads. Road surfaces are good. Any potholes etc will be marked.

Bike choices - Suitable for all types of bikes.

Run

The race will finish with a 5k run on tracks and trails in and around the Compton Verney hamlet. This multi-terrain course has it all. Just the right amount of flats and hills to challenge you but also to make the most of the beautiful local scenery. The undulating course will eventually bring you to the finish line in front of the beautiful tree-lined lake.

Distance - 5k

Total elevation - 19m (to be confirmed)

Road types and conditions - The run is all off road on grass with an undulating (but not too challenging) course. The paths are firm underfoot, so trail shoes or road shoes should be fine.

Where is the start and finish of the race?

The race starts and finishes at Park Farm, Compton Verney in Warwickshire. The postcode is CV35 9HJ. The postcode for the venue's car park will be confirmed nearer to the time of the event.

The event is sold out, can I go on to a wait list?

Yes, absolutely! Once the event is full you should see an option to enter onto a wait-list. Payment is taken when you go on the list but it's refunded if you don't get a spot.

Can I cancel my place?

Unfortunately we are not offering refunds on the sprint event. Please email [email protected] with any queries relating to this. Alternatively, could you change your entry to a relay? Again, please email us at [email protected].

Is my entry transferable to a friend?

Unfortunately transfer to another athlete isn’t permitted. If changing to a relay team isn’t an option for you, please get in touch and we can look at a partial refund. The amount will vary depending on when you get in touch with us.

Can I change my individual entry to a relay entry?

Certainly! As long as it’s 28 days before the event. There will be an admin fee of £10 plus the price difference between the individual event and the relay event. Please email [email protected].

Can I change my relay entry to an individual entry?

Yes you can, providing you email us at least 28 days before the event. However no refunds will be payable on the entry fee and an admin fee of £10 will be charged.

Can I change the members in my relay team?

Yes, you can. Changes can be made up to 14 days before the event. Please email [email protected] with the old team members’ names as well as the new team members’ names and we’ll organise this for you.

Do I have to wear a wetsuit?

We follow the temperature guidance set by British Triathlon. It is expected that, as with most races, the majority of participants will choose to wear a wetsuit if water temperature permits.

Can I camp on the event site?

We are hoping to be able to offer on-site camping. More information will be available soon.

How will I receive my race pack and when will it arrive?

Your race information will be sent to you via email. The race pack containing your number, chip, swim cap etc will be picked up at registration.

Can I request a wave start so I race with my friends?

Please email your request through to [email protected] and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Racers will enter the water according to their swim speed, which you will be asked for closer to the time, with faster swimmers going first.

When can I register?

Ideally you need to register the night before your race. The opening times for the registration desk will be confirmed closer to event day. If you are a British Triathlon member you must show your BTF card at registration. If you’re participating as part of a relay team only one member of the team needs to register but s/he must bring BTF cards for each team member where applicable and pay the day licence fee for any non-BTF members in the team. If you paid the non-BTF rate for your entry, then you have already paid for the day licence as part of your race fee

Will regular trainers be ok for the run course?

Some of the run course will be run through on public footpaths and trails. Whilst you may like off road shoes for this section, most entrants will be wearing regular running or racing trainers. If it has been dry then regular running trainers will be fine. If it has been very wet for a prolonged period it could be muddy in parts.

Can I train on the run course before the race?

Parts of the route are on privately owned land, to which there is no access prior to race day. However, much of the route is on public rights of way, so can be used for training. Please note that there is no parking at Park Farm, except for registration during the evening of Friday 21st July, and during the events on Saturday 22nd July and Sunday 23rd July

Are there changing and transition tents?

Unfortunately not. You should keep all of your equipment at your racking point. This area is for race equipment only – you should only bring one small bag to keep at the racking point. There will be no bag drop/area.

Can I carry a mobile phone on the course?

You can carry mobile phone for the purpose of recording your distance, but in line with British Triathlon rules it must not be used to make calls unless you have stopped.

Can I use headphones?

No, in line with British Triathlon rules headphones and bone conducting head sets are not permitted.

Are there food and hydration stations on the run and bike courses?

For the sprint race, we recommend you carry all of your nutrition and hydration. There will also be a catering stand(s) offering food and drink after the event

Can I bring my dog?

Well behaved dogs on a lead will be welcomed. Please ensure that any mess is bagged and binned.
