Join Saturn Running for the annual Time Turner & Great North Run Training Run on Sunday, 25th August 2024 in Durham, County Durham. This 7-hour Time Challenge event allows you to choose your distance, with options ranging from 5km to an ultra of 50km. The course along the River Wear offers stunning views of the Cathedral and Castle, with 60% on well-made paths/tarmac. Finishers will receive a fantastic medal and goody bag, with vegan options available. Distance pins are awarded for half-marathon distances and above. Aid tables will be stocked with a variety of snacks, and parking is conveniently located nearby. Organiser's Description

Come join us for our annual Time Turner & Great North Run Training Run you can choose your medal. We have plenty of medals to choose from! We have listed a selection or you can opt to choose on the day - for the medals listed, this will be your only chance to get your hands on one of these bad boys!

We welcome runners of all abilities and you are allowed to run or walk the course.

Distance & Time: This is a 7 hour Time Challenge event which allows you full control over the distance you want to run. The minimum distance is 5km, which is part of a lap. A full lap is 4.37 miles (7km) and you can run as many or as few of these laps as you wish in the 7 hour time limit which starts from the official event start time. It is 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon and 7 or over for an ultra, we also have a 50km distance available.

Course: The course along the River Wear and has views of the Cathedral and Castle. It is fully signed so no navigational experience is required. The course is a mixture with approximately 60% of it on a well-made path / tarmac. Road shoes can be used all year round but if you prefer the extra grip on the trail sections then trail shoes can be worn.

The regular course is subject to some change near the time of the event depending on our health and safety review of the course and council / land owner final approval.

Medals: As long as you complete one lap, you will be an official finisher and you will receive our fantastic medal. We have mini-me pins available for the first 100 entrants.

Goody Bag: Absolutely! You earned the calories after all, so all our finishers get a goody bag. As well as our standard goody bag, with a selection of various goodies to choose from, we also have a fabulous vegan goody bag for our vegan runners.

Distance Pins: We have distance pins available for anyone who runs a half-marathon distance or more. Pins available to collect are our Half-Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50km and Ultra pins. You will receive one pin on the ribbon of your medal to reflect your achievement.

Aid Table: We have a fantastic aid table and drinks table at the start / finish of each lap. There is a great selection of savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items at the aid table.

Special Event: If our event is a special event for you, for instance your 50th, 99th, 100th, 200th, 250th etc., half or full marathon then please let us know. You will receive a special running number with your name on it and the date of the event. Also, if it is your birthday run then again please let us know as we have a fabulous special birthday number for you too!

Toilets & Changing Facilities: There are toilets available at the race HQ, however this venue does not have any changing facilities.

Final Instructions / Number pick up: Final race day instructions will be sent out via email 4-7 days prior to the event with full race day information. Number pick up is on the day at race registration before the start of the event.

Parking: There is nearby free on-street parking or pay and display city centre parking.

Other Info: There will be somewhere to leave a bag at the start / finish area. However, this is not a secure bag and the items cannot be watched at all times so please do not leave anything valuable.

Places are strictly limited and event registration will close once these are sold out. The minimum age is 12 years old. If you would like to run with someone under 12 years of age, please contact us directly. We have two events running at the same time. The main event is a UKA Permitted event and is for all runners aged 18 or over. In addition, we have a non-UKA event for runners under the age of 18. Runners under the age of 18 will automatically be included in the non-UKA start list and this event will start 1 minute after the main event.

Headphones are allowed.

Our running events are held on public footpaths so we would be grateful if all runners were considerate of other path users.
