Course Details
Swim
The 1.2 mile (1.9km) swim will take place in the familiar, sheltered waters of Pennington Flash Nature reserve. Free shuttle busses are provided from Bolton town centre on race morning to get you to the start.

Bike
From swim exit, T1 is a flat 200m run through the crowds of supporters. Drop your swim kit bag off with volunteers for transport to Bolton and then you begin your bike leg. While the bike leg is yet to be revealed, you can be assured of some spectacular scenery and some punchy climbs to keep it interesting on the 56 mile (90.1km) course.
Run
T2 will be in Bolton’s picturesque Queen’s Park, from where you will head through the historic Town Centre and take in the crowds that have become synonymous with IRONMAN events in Bolton. The 13.1 mile (21.1km) run course is similar to those of the IRONMAN era. The red-carpet finish line outside the iconic Town Hall provides the perfect backdrop to celebrate the completion of your journey. The crowds have always come out in force from finisher to last in Bolton and the new IRONMAN 70.3 distance event is expected to put on the same welcome home.

How to Get There
From the North
If traveling down the M6, follow signs for the M61 and leave at Junction 30. Once on the M61, follow signs for Manchester/Bolton and exit at junction 5, then take the A58 exit to Bolton. Keep left to continue on Snydale Way/A58 and then continue onto Wigan Rd/A676. Turn right onto Deansgate, followed by another right onto Howell Croft N. Next you will turn left onto Le Mans Cres and then turn right to stay on Le Mans Cres. The Albert Halls will be on your left.
From the South
If traveling up the M6, follow signs for the M62 and leave at Junction 21a, following signs for Manchester. Join the M60 at Junction 12 and proceed to follow signs for the M61 towards Preston. Keep right to stay on M61 and continue onto St Peter's Way/A666. Turn left onto Topp Way/A673, which turns slightly left and becomes Marsden Rd/B6205. Turn left onto Deansgate/A676 and then turn right onto Howell Croft N. Next you will turn left onto Le Mans Cres and then turn right to stay on Le Mans Cres. The Albert Halls will be on your left.
By bus

If traveling to Pennington Flash the nearest station to Leigh is Atherton which is approximately 3 miles away.
By air
The nearest airport to Albert Halls, Victoria Square, Bolton is Manchester Airport. Situated 21 miles from Bolton it will take approximately 30mins to drive to Bolton.

Registration
Online registrations are synced to our database within 24 hours. You will automatically receive a registration confirmation e-mail
Your age group category for the event you registered for will be reflective of your age as of 31 December of the event year.
Your name, and the names of other starters will be searchable on the IRONMAN Tracker App the day prior to your race.
1. Check the information on the start list above. Make sure your name is spelled correctly, the country represented is correct and that your TriClub is affiliated with your IRONMAN profile. Your BIB number will be announced about three weeks prior to race day. If not, please contact directly the organisation at [email protected]
2. The race pack can only be collected by the registered athlete and during the official opening hours of the registration. You can will these in our event schedule. Once the registration is closed (Saturday until 2pm) you will no longer get your race pack.
3. During race week you will receive a confirmation email which will include your BIB number and your personal QR code. This email must be printed out or shown electronically on your smartphone/tablet at the registration
4. Please bring your annual triathlon license with you, have this ready to show to the volunteer upon collecting your race pack.
5. If you do not have an annual triathlon, one-day licences will be available to purchase on-site at registration.
6. Bring your ID or passport with you; we need to verify that you will be the athlete who is racing.
7. IMPORTANT: Only the athlete in person is allowed to pick up the race pack. The race pack will not be given to a third person, not even with authorization.
