After 23 years of proving Anything is Possible in Zurich, the rich history of IRONMAN Switzerland continues as the famed race moves to the stunning city of Thun in 2020. Building on the legacy of one of Europe’s longstanding, traditional IRONMAN destinations, our search for excellence has led us to a beautiful location in the heart of Switzerland, next to the capital, Bern.
Thun is known as the gateway to the Bernese Oberland and lies at the edge of the Aare River from Lake Thun. Surrounded by the world-famous mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and situated at the clear waters of Lake Thun, the charming city combines decades of tradition with a picturesque lake and beautiful countryside. There couldn't be a more appropriate backdrop to crown you as an IRONMAN than under the gaze of the majestic Thun Castle – the town’s unmistakable landmark.
