How to Get There

Please remember to bring your own water bottle already filled as there will be no bottled water provided at events. ScottishPower water refill stations will be available to use.

There is no designated car park for this event, however we would recommend using the Town Centre Pay & Display Car Parks which are approximately 10-15 minutes walk to the park. Please therefore allow enough time to get parked up and walk down before your event start time.

A limited number of disabled parking spaces will be available in the Keresforth Hall Road Car Park, which would also be a recommended drop off area if required. As there are only limited spaces in this Car Park, please note this will be available for disabled parking only.

The nearest train station is Barnsley Interchange, and the nearest buses run to Kingstone along Park Road and Keresforth Hall Road.

Course Details

Please remember to bring your own water bottle already filled as there will be no bottled water provided at events. ScottishPower water refill stations will be available to use.

Please arrive 30 to 45mins before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.

The Barnsley 5k course is a 2.5k double lap route through the well maintained and picturesque grounds of Locke Park. The route starts and finishes near the Keresforth Hall Road entrance, and is mainly on tarmac pathways which are undulating in places. The paths are not entirely flat, at least 50% of the course route is on a slight gradient. The course also goes across the grass in 2 places which may become boggy in poor weather conditions.

Further Information

We would recommend that this event is wheelchair accessible with assistance. The event site is on grass as well as a small proportion of the course route, some of the route has been diverted to accommodate to wheelchairs, however the majority of the course is on tarmac paths. These however are undulating so assistance would be advised.

Limited Disabled Parking is available at the Keresforth Hall Road Car Park, close to the start and finish line.
