The Commando Series - Hever Castle

Sat 12th October 2024 - Sun 13th October 2024

A group of people wearing green shirts and headbands wade through a muddy forested obstacle course, smiling and cheering. They navigate through water filled with sticks and tree branches. The scene is lively with determination and camaraderie. A young person with long hair in a ponytail, wearing a green shirt and black pants, crawls on a rope bridge over water. They have a determined look on their face and camouflage paint on their cheeks. The background is blurred foliage. Two people in light grey shirts, with "Royal Marines" and "COMMANDO" text, smile broadly with painted faces and raised thumbs. They stand outdoors against a clear blue sky, exuding a sense of achievement and camaraderie. The hand of the person on the left shows "253". A man in military attire, with a green shirt and face paint, jubilantly raises a weapon with one hand while wading through a swamp with water up to his chest. He has a big smile on his face and other individuals in similar gear can be seen in the background. A serene body of water reflects the blue sky above and the surrounding landscape. Ancient stone ruins and lush green trees are visible on the opposite shore. Drooping branches frame the scene, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. A man swings from a muddy rope over a swampy area with a big smile on his face. The surroundings are filled with greenery and fallen leaves. He is covered in mud from head to toe, indicating he is participating in an outdoor adventure or obstacle course.

Hard is all I can say! However it was great fun and I would recommend it. My only issue was the water breaks were too far into the course. There should be at least four water stops and not one at the half way mark! Or at least after the warm up (which is very intense) hand out water instead of making us start straight away. However it was hard but good!

OMG was that a hard OCR!!!! I had sort of an idea what to expect, and then really I had not idea what awaited me at all. No spoilers for anyone considering this OCR - just do it. I ran on my own and the levels of collaboration between total strangers was unbelievable. I can honestly say having taken part in numerous other well known OCR's this ones the hardest - this was not made any easier with the webbing I chose to wear on the day - just a fantastic experience.
