How to Get There

It is best to pop over to Google to plot your exact directions to the park as there are multiple different ways to come to it (Gedling Country Park
Spring Ln, Nottingham NG4 4PE).

Once you are on Spring Lane though, the park is very obvious. It has the typical brown direction signs for Country Parks and is very well signposted. The entranceway is very wide and has a coal cart and a large “Welcome to…” sign on both sides of the entranceway.

Public Transport – The park is very well connected in terms of public transport. The main bus which runs from the center of Nottingham is the number 47 and it drops you off right outside the entrance to the Park. Please check on the bus times before traveling, but at the time of writing, there was one bus that will get you to the park at 9.50 am. Perfect Timing.

There is ample parking available onsite, and as of writing, there is currently no charge for the car park. As always we encourage people to car share or use public transport as much as possible when coming to our events. Make sure that you post in the Rasselbock Facebook Group if you are able or are looking for someone to car share with.

Gedling Country Park is located in the North East of Nottingham city, easily accessible by car and public transport.

Course Details

The route is a 5.33km long loop with 112 meters of elevation across its distance. After leaving the HQ you will travel around the solar farm before descending down towards the reserve lakes. From here there is a small climb and a drop before you tackle the "main hill" and then the gentle slope back down to HQ.

  • Where are the Terms and Conditions of the event?

    They can be found at

  • Age Restrictions

Unfortunately, we do not allow under 12’s to participate in any live event. If you are between the ages of 12 and 18 then we will need a parent or guardian to contact us before signing up so that we can advise them on how to register your place.

  • What facilities are available?

We have access to the public toilets at the main visitor center near the car park. There are no changing facilities on site so please arrive ready to run.

  • Are the headstocks still at Gedling?

Unfortunately, the headstocks at Gedling were removed almost 30 years ago now. The headstocks in our photos are from the nearby Clipstone Colliery which has theirs protected by listed status.

You’ll be able to pick up your race number on the morning of the event at the aid station/start line from 10am. The park will be open from sunrise but please be aware that Junior Park run will be in session before us on Sunday morning, hence the later than normal start time. They are due to be finished by 9.30 and then we need to set up race HQ, please do not arrive at the HQ before 10am as it will not yet be set up by that point. The event will begin at 10:30 and run until 16:30.

We will have a fully stocked aid station at base camp full of all your favorite items, although if you are expecting energy tablets, gels, and supplements, you may need to bring your own as our aid station tends to lean towards the more “enjoyable fuel”. Imagine Fudge, cakes, cookies, and jelly babies along with all the savory alternatives. You are more than welcome to bring your own food and drink to the aid station. We will have a separate table for these so please make sure that your bottles or items are clearly labeled so that no one takes them by accident!

We do not have any secure baggage areas on site but you are more than welcome to leave your bags at the base camp. Whilst we can’t guarantee that they’ll be safe, there will always be someone from Rasselbock around. If you are driving then it is recommended that you leave any non-essential items in your car as the car park is a very short distance from the start line.

There will be some public toilets that will be open for our use and are located at the side of the cafe around 150 meters from the Race HQ.

We would recommend road shoes as the event takes part almost entirely on compact walking routes Like all of our events going forward, we will be operating a bring your own bottle policy. We will not be supplying plastic cups or drinks receptacles at this event so that we can cut down on waste and do our part to help the environment. You will be required to bring your own water bottle, collapsable cup, or similar to the event. We will still have an array of liquids available for you to top up your bottles with at our well-stocked aid station!
