Organiser's Description
Our packages include return airport transfers, half board accommodation, guided warm up ride & sportive entry. 3-4 night trips.
The Tour of Flanders weekend is a fantastic celebration of our sport by one of the most passionate cycling loving regions on earth. There are 4 routes available, all including the classic finish of the Oude Kwaremont & Paterberg. While Roubaix is all about cobbles, and the Ardennes classics are all about sharp climbs, Flanders is a mix of the two, with some brutal cobbled sectors and steep cobbled climbs. The most famous of these are the Koppenberg, Muur & Paterberg, with gradients pushing 20%. The sportive is so popular and the roads so narrow that on these climbs it is a challenge to get past the numerous riders that walk up the steep sections.
The route finishes with a long flat sprint to Oudenaarde, finishing in the race village with a large beer tent and food vendors to help bring your energy back.
Itinerary
Friday 3rd April
Arrive in Oudenaarde by lunch time and join us for a 50km warm up spin with our expert local guide. We hit the Kwaremont & Koppenberg, a much easier proposition without the company of 16,000 riders.
Saturday 4th April
Sportive day! Transfers to Antwerp for the long route are from Oudenaarde from 5am, or the other routes start from town from 7am.
Sunday 5th April
Ronde day! Choose between hospitality packages or join us for a full day experience starting in Antwerp, before heading to the Kwaremont.
Route Overview
One of the must ride sportives in World of cycling, and possibly the best one day classic in the pro circuit. The Tour of Flanders sportive is your chance to ride over classic cobbled climbs including the Koppenberg, Kwaremont and Paterberg. Choose between the four routes and then enjoy the great atmosphere at the pro race on Sunday. The key feature of the routes is the relentlessness of the bergs, coming at you every 5 to 7km, so by the end your legs are well and truly sapped. All routes finish with the Kwaremont / Paterberg double before a quick sprint home.
229km: The full route leaves at 7am from Antwerp and heads South to the Flemish Ardennes. The first 80km is uneventful but the remaining 150km more than makes up for it, with climbs and cobbles coming every 7km. Elevation gain: 2160m.
174km: Arguably the best route of all the choices. This starts & ends in Oudenaarde for convenience and goes out to the Muur before hitting the classic sections closer to home. Elevation gain: 1853m.
139km: Traditionally the most popular route, the mid distance starts and ends in Oudenaarde and is jam packed with action. The first climb is after 9km and then there are cobbles or climbs every 5km. Elevation gain: 1497m.
74km: Short but action packed with 11 climbs or cobbled sections packed into a relatively short distance. This route still takes in tough climbs like the Koppenberg, Kwaremont & Paterberg so you will get a real feel for Flanders. Elevation gain: 919m
