Organiser's Description

WINCHESTER 10K

Sunday 18th Feb 2024 | Winchester Guildhall

The Winchester 10km Road Race started back in 1983 as a 10-mile distance. The race adopted the popular 10km format in the late 1980's.

The race will feature a 1 lap closed road route starting outside the historic Winchester Guildhall in The Broadway. The start is in front of the impressive King Alfred Statue. The route heads up St George's Street before going out towards the village of Kingsworthy. The return leg passes through the village of Headbourne Worthy and back towards Winchester before finishing at The North Walls Recreation Centre. The route is a mix of urban and countryside parkland.

It's a super city centre vibe 10K with over 2000 runners making it a super atmosphere! The entry fee includes chip timing, photography and a finisher medal.

"My fourth time doing the Winchester 10k, organised by the award-winning Challenging Events team, and once again it didn’t disappoint. This is a mix of town and country, flat and hilly and a friendly race to boot. As always with CE event there’s an impressive medal and a nice tee shirt all included for a reasonable price. A big race atmosphere without being overwhelming so a great event for all abilities." Racecheck review 2023

Interesting run with nearly 900 competitors, with the start through the streets of Winchester. The route has some hills, but is all paved so fine for road shoes. Great finishers' medals and T-shirts. Event was almost cancelled due to storm damage, but the organisers did an amazing job in ensuring the race would take place. Would be 5-star except the local authorities did not open the public loos for early arrivals. Had to wait until Costa Coffee opened at 7:30 - so thanks to them for the loo, a welcome hot Americano and friendly staff.
