Organiser's Description

A BRAND-NEW addition to our outdoor fitness racing series for 2024 - hosted on the stunning Weston-Super-Mare beach in Somerset.

X Race is our ‘outdoor fitness racing series’; a slick combination of mixed-terrain running, rucking & functional fitness.

After the success of X Race: Blaise Castle (pictured in images), we’re stepping things up a gear and hitting the beach! This may be new terrain for an X Race course but the objective remains the same – complete the course as quickly as possible!

Competitors will take on a uniquely designed route for this location that will test their beach running & rucking skills as well as requiring them to complete 12+ functional fitness challenges along the way, each packed with some seriously cool unconventional equipment!

As always, all the routes, fitness challenges & entry categories are carefully designed to ensure that newcomers can participate in the events alongside more experienced fitness racing athletes. Plus, with 3 distances to choose from, there’s something for everyone at X Race.

Course Details

The 5 fitness zones stay the same for each distance, what varies is the distance of the runs or the number of times you complete the entire course.

Sprint: 1k Beach Runs & 2k Beach Ruck Runs
Endurance: 2.5k Beach Runs & 2k Beach Ruck Runs
Ultra: 2 Laps Of The Endurance Course.

Shortly before the event you will receive your heat time. On the day you will check in and then head off shortly after in your heat!

How to Get There

TRAVEL BY CAR
Southbound follow the M5 to junction 21, then take the A370 exit to Weston-super-Mare.

Northbound follow the M5 to junction 22, then take the A38 exit to Weston-super-Mare/Burnham-on-Sea/Bristol (South)/Airport.

Follow the signage to the seafront. For sat nav use Marine Parade, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1BE.

Parking

Parking is available on Marine Parade, Weston seafront. Please follow directional signage.

1 March – 31 October (summer) £10 per vehicle per day/£6 for 4 hours/no charge after 6pm.

1 November – 28 February (winter) £4 per vehicle per day/£2.50 for 4 hours/no charge after 6pm.

There is a coach drop-off point on the promenade and coach/car parking in Locking Road car park (BS23 3DE) .

Disabled parking

Limited spaces are available along Marine Parade.

The Tropicana Weston is within easy reach of Weston-super-Mare train station, with a 15-minute walk to the seafront. Please follow signage.

FAQs

  • Do I need to be really fit to take part?

    Not at all. Our events are designed to be for everyone. Yes, they are challenging in areas but they have also been designed to not be super-technical (whether that's the running, rucking or functional fitness challenges) and therefore are accessible to everyone! You can also decide how to tackle the course, whether that is in our competitive heats, our just for fun heats and by yourself or with friends!

  • What other amenities will there be on the day?

    A bag drop area, toilets, food and drink vendors and also some extra special fitness apparel & merch!

  • Will there be a photographer on the day?

    Of course - we'll have several throughout the route!

  • Will there be water stations on the course?

    Of course, there will be several along the route!

  • What if I fail an obstacle on the Assault Course?

    Burpees! Each obstacle will have a burpee penalty if you are unable to complete it.

  • When will we find out our heat times?

    We will send out an athlete pack which will include exact heat times on the week of the event. This pack will also include important information including parking etc

  • Will I be required to swim at this event?

    No, you will not be asked to swim at any point during this event.
