You need to pre-register for this event. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email which is your guarantee of a place. There is nothing else you need to do until nearer the night.
Anyone can register as long as they are over 15yrs on the day of the event (10k), and 11yrs on the day of the event (5k).
Your race pack (bib number, timing tags and event info) will be ready to collect from the full week before from Fylde Coast Runners on Hoo Hill Estate, Blackpool, or on event night itself.
The event is staged from the Middle Walkway, just North of North Pier. This is where the event race pack collection points will be. Collection points will open at 6pm. All competitors are to gather here before the event, then shortly before 9pm, the start area will open on the main promenade.
Nordic walkers, buggy users, wheelchair users and power walkers are all welcome.
Blackpool has ample parking within the town centre. We recommend using Parkopedia to locate a car park suitable for you.
In addition to portable toilets at the race venue, and at the start area, there are facilities along the route. They are ‘Danfo’ super loos that require a 30p to operate. We recommend taping a few coins to the back of your running number in case you need to use them during the race. Toilets will also be available at the finish of the race.
RACE NIGHT ITSELF
Arrive in plenty of time to allow you to park; collect your race pack if not already collected; get ready and visit the toilet etc. Just before the start the toilets become busy so plan your visit carefully. When you have your race pack, take out your bib number, fill in the medical information section on the back. Be careful not to damage or lose your number, as replacements will not be issued. If there is a risk of you blacking out during the race (for example if you suffer from fits), put a red cross on the front of your number. Pin your number on your FRONT without folding or covering it - it needs to be seen by the Race Makers. Do not remove or damage the timing tags on the bib or you will not get a finishing result. Do not pass your bib number on to anybody else without first notifying registration - this is to ensure the results are correct and for obvious safety, insurance and medical reasons. When you are happy that you are ready to compete, make your way to the start area. The start location is clearly marked. Line up behind the start line, where there will be a few safety announcements and before the event starts. Please be at the start line for not later than 8.45pm.
We advise that you do not wear iPods or similar devices whilst running. You may not hear stewards or indeed fellow competitors if they need help!
WATER STATIONS & AID
A water station is located at halfway point on the route. Bottled water is available to all competitors. The bottle cap will be removed before being passed to you. The station will be clearly signed. Please try and drop your bottles as soon as possible so we don’t litter the course too much. It also helps the crew at the stations to pick the bottles up quicker. A water station is also located at the finish area. Medics are available at the water station and at the finish. If you get into any difficulties on the course you should alert a steward or medic who will be able to help you.
