The Newcastle 5k, 10k and Half Marathon Winter Warmer Run

Sat 1st February 2025

A group of jubilant runners celebrate near the finish line of an outdoor Winter Warmer event. They are dressed in athletic gear and wear medals around their necks. They stand behind a barrier with an orange tent and an emergency vehicle in the background. Four smiling runners pose for a group photo after a race, all wearing running gear, event bibs, and medals around their necks. An inflatable finish line arch and other participants in action are visible in the background on a grassy field. Close-up of several "Winter Warmer Runner" medals hanging. The medals feature a polar design with an igloo, snowflakes, and runners alongside the event logo and website. The medals are detailed with blue and orange colors and a ribbon for wearing. A person in a polar bear costume with arms outstretched stands on a road during a race event, surrounded by runners in athletic gear. The background features an archway and trees. Runners appear to be wearing warm clothing, indicating a cold-weather event. A smiling man and woman in matching "Winter Warmer Runner" shirts and colorful headbands pose for a photo outdoors. They are standing in a park with other runners and participants in the background. The man has his arm around the woman's shoulder.

The race started quite well. There was music and warm up but the race itself it wasn't great. The runners were aware of the circuit, but it wasn't said that there would be a part of the race where we would have to cross through a mucky field where the grass was bumpy and uneven and slippy. Apart from that, when I was passing by the "water" station at km 16 there was no water ready at all to give to the runners. Also I would have appreciate it a healthy snack after the race like a banana or something, not just candys. I wouldn't recommend this race even though it has a nice medal.

Absolutely brilliant, my first race. The race was well organised and all of the volunteers were brilliant. The host was great fun and the rest of the staff were very friendly. The wardens were well organised and it's so great that the proceeds go towards Shelter. Will definitely be doing more races with you guys!
