Preston Parkrun



The course is 5000m (5K) long. The course is in Preston Park, Brighton. The course is run entirely on tarmac paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.

Course Description

The course is smooth tarmac, mainly flat with one short uphill followed by a longer more gentle descent. Lap 1 is an L shape starting on a wide downhill path and turning left to the southern tip of the park where a U turn is made, returning to the start line. From here 2 P shaped clockwise laps gently descend past the café, continue to the U turn point and up the short rise to the start line. After the second P shaped lap there is a further 200m to finish close to the café.


Parking: There is free parking inside the park until 2pm and limited free parking on Preston Drove and on the roads to the north. Parking is £1 per hour on Preston Park Avenue to the east. Please do not park on the hill that goes down to the start unless you have a blue badge. Cafe: There are 2 cafes within the park. The Chalet Cafe is close to the finish. The Rotunda Cafe is also available in the Rose garden at the south end of the park. Other: The park is very popular with local people with a number of football pitches and a children’s playground. It is the venue for community events, the start of Brighton Marathon and the city’s Gay Pride festival.
