Bath Skyline Races - Night

Sat 15th November 2025

A night scene with swirling blue light trails above a field. The sky is a mix of purple and orange hues, and there are silhouetted trees in the background. A small white sign is visible on the left side of the field. A red archway with the word "FINISH" written on it is illuminated with string lights in a dim outdoor setting. Several people are seen in the background near a signpost. Four runners wearing numbered bibs pose and smile for a photo in the dark. They are dressed in colorful athletic gear, including headlamps and gloves. The background is dimly lit, suggesting a nighttime race or event. A group of people wearing running gear and headlamps stand and chat near a castle at night. The illuminated building provides a dramatic backdrop as a few individuals pose for a photo. Two people walk away to the right. A runner wearing a headlamp runs energetically at night past a castle-like structure. The person is smiling and giving a thumbs-up gesture, covered in mud and dressed in a race bib and athletic gear. Trees and a tower are visible in the dark background. A person wearing a headlamp and bib number 692 is joyfully posing while running at night. They are in front of an old stone building, possibly a castle. The person is dressed in a long-sleeve shirt and patterned leggings.

I took part in the night run and I would urge caution. Consider carefully taking part if it has been raining. Incredibly slippery and muddy underfoot and there were plenty of spills. If you want to take part then enter the daytime run. This wasn’t what I anticipated and I accept I should have researched it better. I completed the event but there were quite a few who didn’t. The finishing times were logged manually about 25 metres beyond the finishing line so keep running.

My first 10k! Tough, muddy, picturesque! I may have been last but it was a brilliant experience! Big thanks to Terri, the sweep, who made sure I finished! Get off the couch and do it!

Everything was well organised - the pre-race admin, car parking, facilities at the start/finish area, race briefing, marshalling, course marking, post-race goodies and a nice medal! My only slight gripe is that, according to my Garmin watch, the 10K course measured 9.69K, so it didn't actually register as a 10K run! But overall, it was a good experience, and an enjoyable challenge.
