"Hilly, narrow and technical underfoot, this is one of those races where you should be taking in the splendid scenery but will probably be too busy trying not to take a tumble on the way round!"

Course Details

The route offers a good mix of terrain with open meadows and woodland trails, lots of flat with the occasional climb and descent as you go around the route. The races are very beginner and experienced runner friendly alike. Trail or off road shoes would be a definite advantage, though many runners slide their way around in road shoes.

What's Included

  • Large custom medal for all finishers
  • Our usual buffet of fresh fruits, cakes and other tasty treats at the finish line
  • Free parking on Saturday and Sunday for all participants in our designated event car park
  • There is a water stop at the 5km point on the 10km course
  • On site toilets and bag drop
  • Caterers serving hot food and drinks before and after the race (payable separately)

Medals & prizes

We have a two piece medal to collect over the Skyline 2022 races (19th & 20th Nov) + Skyline 2023 races (25th & 26th March)

Each medal also looks great individually

All our finishers receive a top of the range custom medal as well as a buffet of fresh fruit and other tasty treats. We also recognise a few of the speedy runners on the following basis.

Prize Categories

Top 3 male and top 3 female
First U20 male and female
First 20-39 male and female
First 40-49 male and female
First 50-59 male and female
First 60-69 male and female
First 70+ male and female
The final number of prizes awarded is determined by the number of finishers for each gender in a given race distance. If there are more than 50 finishers then the full range range of awards are made as shown above. If there are less than 50 finishers then the top 3 male and top 3 female finishers overall will be awarded a prize. We do not have any winner's prizes for any of the children's events as would like to keep this participation focused.

There is no on the day prize giving because of the multi wave, multi start time format of the events. Prize winners will be contacted mid week via email.

format

As there are some narrow and technical sections will be starting the event in waves so everyone has a clear run. There will be waves of about 100-150 runners setting off at 5min or 10min intervals. All waves are open to all runners. Canircross runners will have an individual time trail start in an order decided by the runners on the day.

Please confer with friends and family before you register to ensure you select the same wave, if you wish to start together. The different start times are fully accounted for in the results so you can pick any wave and get an accurate finish time

I took part in the night run and I would urge caution. Consider carefully taking part if it has been raining. Incredibly slippery and muddy underfoot and there were plenty of spills. If you want to take part then enter the daytime run. This wasn’t what I anticipated and I accept I should have researched it better. I completed the event but there were quite a few who didn’t. The finishing times were logged manually about 25 metres beyond the finishing line so keep running.

My first 10k! Tough, muddy, picturesque! I may have been last but it was a brilliant experience! Big thanks to Terri, the sweep, who made sure I finished! Get off the couch and do it!

Everything was well organised - the pre-race admin, car parking, facilities at the start/finish area, race briefing, marshalling, course marking, post-race goodies and a nice medal! My only slight gripe is that, according to my Garmin watch, the 10K course measured 9.69K, so it didn't actually register as a 10K run! But overall, it was a good experience, and an enjoyable challenge.
