Set in County Durham's largest forest, this spectacular course is an undulating to hilly 10k lap on good loose stone trail paths. Views over the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty make for a truly memorable event.

Race HQ is near Grove Car Park, Hamsterley Forest South, Bedburn, Bishop Auckland.

Location

The Forest is roughly 10 miles West of Bishop Auckland.

The venue is near Grove Car Park, Hamsterley Forest South, Bedburn, Bishop Auckland DL13 3QN

Parking

The nearby roads, particularly the A68, will direct you to the car park with signage. Follow signage to car park from the surrounding roads then signage to Registration.

Parking at Hamsterley Forest is on a new Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system.

Car parking will be charged.

Other Information

Registration will take place at the start/finish area and opens at 8am

Half Marathon: 10:00am start

10k: 10:30am start

Cut off times - all races 4 hours

A bag drop area is located at the registration. Baggage is left at your own risk and is sometimes not manned. Please put your own labels on any baggage with name and race number on.

No headphones as the route is also open to the public.

Please be aware phone signal is very poor in and around Hamsterley Forest.

Results will be on our website with split times for each lap. (Recorded each time you cross the lap mat).

TRA race permit with a course accuracy certificate

The area has plenty of opportunities for spectating, although you may get distracted by the stunning views and potential for wildlife watching. You might want to go for a peaceful wander while the race is happening.

Hamsterley half. Tough half marathon all on trails 6.1 mile up hill altogether so not for the faint hearted 😂 the event was ran excellently good friendly atmosphere
