Northants Shires & Spires Event
Organiser's Description
This event is based in the village of Naseby and offers four distances - 10k, half and full marathon, and ultra. This year we are back to running in an anti-clockwise direction.
The Ultra run follows a very scenic 35 mile loop taking in some of the most interesting country houses and historical sites in England, including Naseby, which is famous for the battle in 1645, Holdenby, Althorp, Cottesbrooke, evidently the house Jane Austen used as the basis for Mansfield Park, as well as some stunning countryside. History and running in a perfect setting.
The 10k, half and full marathon all take in some of the Ultra route, and of course amazing country houses and stunning countryside.

The route followed is circular in nature, taking in Northamptonshire’s rolling countryside, stately homes and picturesque villages. The terrain is mixed so please take care. There are no closed roads or sole use areas so please be aware of other people at all times. When running on road sections please use the footpath where accessible or run facing oncoming traffic. Please take care when crossing the road, there are two main road crossings which are unavoidable for the ultra, marathon and half-marathon runners: A428 (29 miles/20.1 miles); A5199 (12.6 miles+32.2 miles/6.2 miles+24.3 miles/5.9 miles+11.1 miles) It is your personal responsibility to cross safely – it is a long race so waiting for a minute or two to cross will not make a major difference.
