PHOENIX - Ready Teddy Go

Mon 28th August 2023

A group of yellow and black teddy bears, each wearing a Phoenix Running sash and a wooden Phoenix Running medal, are arranged closely together. The bears have black patches on their ears, paws, and around their eyes. A scenic vineyard with rows of grapevines stretching into the distance under a partly cloudy sky. A yellow sign on the right reads "RUN ROUTE" with arrows, indicating a running path through the vineyard. In the background, there are rolling hills covered in greenery. Two women smiling and standing side by side in a vineyard on a sunny day. They are wearing sunglasses and matching green tank tops with "Little Miss Chatterbox" written on them. The background showcases lush green grapevines and a clear blue sky. A group of people in athletic gear stand under a "Phoenix Running" tent. They are smiling and raising their hands in celebration, wearing medals around their necks. Trees and sunlight create a cozy outdoor setting.

Organiser's Description

We're absolutely delighted to be back at the wonderful Denbies Wines Estate for a summer bank holiday running weekend in August, where on Bank Holiday Monday we'll be hosting another rather special event indeed - the 'Ready, Teddy, Go!'

'Ready, Teddy, Go' is one of our themed events and this time each and every finisher gets one of our specially commissioned 'Phoenix Bears' and a classic Phoenix wooden medal. We're back in 2023 with brand new orange / black colour scheme for our Bears. Each of these bears is truly unique, a one-of-a-kind, handmade, 13inch tall teddy bear, made especially for us by the very talented Mandy Barnes (one of our runners and marshals). Mandy is going to be very busy over the coming months making us a whole bunch of bears from 3 slightly different designs. Thank you so much Mandy!

This is a multi-distance event - from 5km to 10k, half to marathon to ultra, you can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, looped course around the beautiful Denbies Wine Estate within the overall 7 hour time limit. We welcome all abilities of runner - complete one loop and you're both a finisher and a winner in our eyes, or keep going and see how far you can get in the full 7 hour time limit and everyone gets the fabulous bespoke finishers' medal.

Not sure? Well the beauty of this format is that you don't even need to decide in advance - simply come and run a lap and see how you feel on the day and keep on going if it feels right.

Places will be strictly limited so don't leave it too late to enter.

Minimum distance is 3.28 miles or as far as you can go in 7 hours. Off road trail, through the wine estate with the odd hill thrown in.

First Class. For a total beginner when it comes to races I couldn't have picked a better event. It had flexibility througout with super friendly organisers on the day. The email event instructions were clear and thorough. I was planning to do one loop of the course as new to it all and there was no pressure at all to either do any more but equally an option to try another later. The course was very well laid out and easy to follow. It was challenging in places which was good as pushed me further on mh journey running but not impossible to achieve. I liked the fact that complete a loop and you are a winner in their eyes. It made me feel included and motivated. I am definitely going to book more races with Phoenix and would highly recommend them whether an experienced runner of a 60+ newbie like me.
