RACE THE LIGHT

Sat 28th November 2026

Three people, wearing brightly colored jackets, wade through shallow water at a beach during sunset. A fourth person takes a photo from further back in the water. The background features a hilly landscape with trees, and the sky is painted with orange and blue hues. A woman with a race bib numbered 1411 is running through a shallow body of water, splashing around her. She wears a purple shirt, dark shorts, and a hydration vest. She is smiling, with her hair pulled back, and the background shows a rocky, natural landscape. A man in athletic gear runs through a shallow body of water, creating splashes around him. He wears a bright yellow and blue vest with a number tag pinned to it. The background features a rocky, earthy terrain. The expression on his face shows determination. Two runners, each wearing race bibs numbered 73 and 71, are running through a shallow body of water. The runner in front, wearing blue and black, is splashing water as they move forward, with a rocky shoreline visible in the background. Two runners wearing race bibs numbered 73 and 71 dash through shallow water, kicking up splashes, as part of a race. Officials in bright jackets and one with a camera stand on the shore, with rocky terrain and a wooded backdrop in the background. A woman with a race bib numbered 114, wearing a blue vest, pink long-sleeve shirt, and black gloves, runs through shallow water with a smile on her face. The background is blurred, suggesting motion, and consists of a rocky shoreline. Two athletes in race bibs run through shallow water on a beach, splashing as they go. The first runner is slightly ahead, and the second follows closely behind. The beach is rocky and slopes upwards away from the water. The sky is overcast. A group of people prepares to run on a sandy beach, moving inland from near the water's edge. In the foreground, a few others stand on the shoreline, some in conversation, with a forested hill in the background under a cloudy sky. A woman stands outdoors, smiling and holding a wooden plaque that says "Race the Light 3rd Female." She is wearing a black top, a race bib, and a medal around her neck. Cars are parked in the background, and trees can be seen behind them. Two women, dressed in athletic attire with race bibs, stand on a grassy field smiling and holding wooden plaques after completing a race. Both wear medals around their necks, and one has a small bandage on her knee. A hilly landscape and cloudy sky are in the background. Two runners are smiling and holding wooden plaques with "RACE THE LIGHT" text after completing a race. One is in a pink shirt and the other in a neon yellow shirt under a running vest with a race bib. They are standing outdoors with hills and fields in the background. A serene river meanders through a valley at dusk, reflecting the golden hues of the setting sun. Tree-covered hills frame the scene, with dark clouds partially obscuring the sky and leaving patches of warm light on the water's surface.

Incredibly well organised. The organisers and Marshall’s were so supportive and helpful. We loved the event. Would definitely recommend!

Poorly organised. Marshals told a group of us the wrong direction, ended up doing 9.7 miles instead of the anticipated 8.5. Will not be doing again.
Did you mention this to the organisers ? Everyone did exactly the same distance.

Great event and location which was well organised. This was the first time doing a running event, so I was a little dismayed receiving a mandatory kit list 5 days before the event: . TRAIL SHOES . BACK OR WAISTPACK . WATERPROOF JACKET . FOIL BLANKET . HEADTORCH . EMERGENCY FOOD . Warm hat and gloves . Spare baselayer . Capacity to carry a half litre of fluid Other than that, would recommend it to anyone and will be back!
It is a midwinter event , crossing an estuary (twice in the case of the Classic 8.5). It can get cold.. and dark.. as you are literally ‘racing the light’. . It’s a twilight event.. headtorch is compulsory - for safety reasons.. Waterproof jacket.. (it might rain). Foil blanket, emergency food, warm hat and gloves.. ability to carry water.. usual trail running kit.. We endeavour to keep everyone safe.. that is our primary concern
