This much-anticipated event will take place on Saturday, December 7th, 2024, at the stunning Mothecombe on the Erme Estuary in Plymouth, Devon. Participants will tackle the original RACE THE LIGHT CLASSIC, an exhilarating 8.5-mile race that winds through the picturesque and privately owned Flete Estate. You'll experience the thrill of a double crossing of the River Erme estuary, all while racing against the light and the tide—prepare for wet feet right from the start!
The race kicks off at 2:45 PM, with a slight chance of a 15-20 minute adjustment based on weather and tidal conditions. Runners will begin at the bottom of the slipway on Coastguards Beach and finish with an epic uphill climb to the SchoolhouseDevon restaurant, offering breathtaking views of the water. Every finisher will be rewarded with a bespoke RACE THE LIGHT medal, making this event a memorable experience for all. RACE THE LIGHT will be back at Mothecombe on the Erme Estuary for an 8th time in December 2024
The original RACE THE LIGHT CLASSIC – 8.5 miles of shadowy estuarine trails, meandering through the privately owned Flete Estate.
There’s a double crossing of the River Erme estuary so it’s a race against the light.. and the tide. So wet feet from the off!
The start time for the race is 2:45pm (subject to change of 15-20 minutes depending on weather and tidal conditions on Raceday).
The race starts at the bottom of the slipway on Coastguards Beach, and finishes with a mighty uphill climb to the SchoolhouseDevon restaurant, high above the water.
Each finisher will receive a bespoke RACE THE LIGHT medal.

Course Details
Undulating route around the Flete Estate's shadowy tracks and trails, meandering riverside along the Erme estuary and along the SWCP.
A double crossing of the Erme estuary for the CLASSIC 8.5, and a finishing crossing for the HALF MARATHON.. Before the tide is too high!
