Brilliant event! I can't recommend it any more highly. I've done one big city marathon prior, but Loch Rannoch delivered in hundreds of ways the big city one did not. Excellent teams, great (albeit somewhat sparse) support en route, good water stops and loos. The best bit is my family supporting me loved the day as much as I did, family atmosphere, friendly runners and happy crowds.
This was my first half-marathon, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. However I thought the event was extremely well organised and set in an absolutely stunning location! The road closures meant we could run with no concern for traffic. The car parking arrangements were excellent and well managed. Direction signs on the approach to the event made getting there easy. All the volunteers were friendly and there was a terrific atmosphere around the whole event. The half-marathon route was out-and-back along the southern side of the Loch, but I liked the little return diversion at the final ~2 mile point which brought us back to the starting point a slightly different way. Physiologically I think this helped with the final stretch. Also loads of folk were gathered closed to the finishing point to cheer us all home. All round an amazing experience!
First ever marathon and so glad I chose this one. Such beautiful scenery to keep you going, mind you i was extremely lucky with the weather, absolutely glorious. I found the volunteers to be really nice and encouraging to. The size of the event is really nice to, not massive but big enough. You can see why it is a must do marathon. Not too "undulating" either, there is only 2 real inclines to talk about at the half way point. If your thinking about doing this run I would recommend.
Done the 2025 marathon and enjoyed it more than most events. Good onsite parking well marshalled by the kind volunteers. Really efficient registration process and a lovely route. The event had a really pleasant atmosphere (probably aided by the amazing weather on the day) and I couldn’t really find much of a fault for the entry fee. Thanks again to the volunteers for their participation and to Run Nation for keeping this fairly low key even alive, I look forward to the next one!
Sadly due to last minute injury I was unable to compete but my daughter ran the half. As a spectator I found the whole event well run. Very friendly and helpful. A very family friendly event with great atmosphere, everyone supporting each other. I walked some of the route which was spectacular. Hopefully I’ll be back to compete next year.
My first ever organised run - it was the half. Loads of parking, awesome location, beautiful views for the run. My top tip - get into the queue for loos as soon as you get there. If you really fancy a challenge you can do a munro in the afternoon - Schiehallion is an amazing backdrop for the event and you'll be heading up when most folk are on their return 😀
