Course Details

Get ready York to Run around the stunning York Racecourse! Most of the course is on tarmac but there are sections that you run on trail! Course details: Flat with a few undulating sections - dog friendly - mix of trail with muddy sections and also paths - 5k is one lap and the 10k is two laps and the half marathon is an initial 1.1k out and back before 4 full laps - course not suitable for wheelchair users - Off road running buggies are ok.

How to Get There

By Car
The recommended raceday route to the racecourse from all directions is via the A64 to the south of the racecourse. Please note, on racedays not all of the usual routes to the racecourse are accessible. Please follow the yellow directional signs, and be aware that satellite navigation systems will not contain the traffic plan routes.

Car parking - There is a plentiful supply of free car parking on all of our racedays.

By Train
Fast and frequent trains run from London Kings Cross, taking as little as 1 hour 52 minutes. Direct trains running from Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham. York Station is a taxi, regular shuttle bus or a brisk walk to the racecourse.

By Bus
The 197 Shuttle Bus service links York Railway Station to the Racecourse,

From York Station
The shuttle buses operate from Stand RJ opposite the Railway Station entrance between 11am and 1.00pm (between 4pm and 6pm for the evening Music Showcase).

From the Racecourse
The shuttle buses return to the Railway Station from Campleshon Road, next to the Racecourse enterance, from 4pm onwards. (From 8.30pm till approximately 10.30pm for the evening Music Showcase).

Please note parking will be limited within the park so please try and park before coming in and make sure you check all options to ensure you arrive with plenty of time to spare.

Flat course, well organised. The trail section is muddy, so be prepared for that. Course wasn’t too busy given its fully open to the public but the out and back section, in the first lap, felt crowded but can’t be avoided. Overall if you don’t mind a route which laps the same loop this is a good choice

1:39:35 which meant I broke my PB by 4:53 & my first ever sub 40 The course is great

It was a good race, but was not expecting to run half the course dodging mud and walkers (non competitors)

Fairly flat course, well organised generally. However, can get very muddy and slippy during winter and they could have had more toilets (only 5 cubicles)
