How to Get There

The race starts at Hopton Primary School, 4 Woodend Rd, Mirfield, WF14 8PR, Woodend Road, Mirfield.

On your sat nav it’s best to use Chadwick Lane, WF14 8PN, this will take you to the entrance to the playground car park.

Parking

As the school is in a residential area, we recommend that you park a short walk away on Hopton New Road which is just South of Mirfield Train station, about 5 minutes walk from the school. This is a straight road which has ample parking for around 70 cars. It is regularly used by rail commuters, but on Sunday morning it should be very quiet.

Alternatively we have two designated car parks for runners to use.

A) The school playground (approx 60 spaces) - Chadwick Lane, Mirfield, WF14 8PN
B) Lower Hopton Club’s car park (approx 20 spaces) - 53 North St, Mirfield, WF14 8PN
We recommend trying Hopton New Road first and then heading to the school if there are no spaces remaining there.

As with many races, congestion and parking can often be a problem, so if at all possible please avoid driving, try to car share, or consider public transport.

FAQs

  • What is the minimum age?

The minimum age for runners is 15.

  • Can I walk the race?

No. The Hopton 10K is a running race in which participants should make best efforts to complete the course within a 90 minute cut-off point. We encourage everyone to run as much as possible in order to avoid the cut-off time. A sweeper team will follow the route to remove signs and clean-up any rubbish; they will take around 90 minutes hours to complete the route.

  • Is there somewhere I can store my bag during the race?

Each runner will be issued with a baggage tag when they collect their race number. There will be a cloakroom/storage room available within the school building which will be manned during the race where you can drop your bag.

  • Is water available during the race?

Yes, there will be a water station at the half way point of the race and water available at the end.

  • What if I need medical attention at the event?

First+ Medical Solutions will be on site to deal with all medical matters. There will be three medics on hand ensuring we have medical coverage across the whole route. There will be a fully equipped medical treatment centre at the start/finish line and emergency vehicle and mobile medic available. We do not suggest anyone runs if they are feeling unwell. Please declare any known/pre-existing medical conditions when you register for the race and display this information clearly on your race number before you run.

  • Can I help if I am not running the race?

Yes please! Our race relies on volunteers acting as stewards and giving out drinks and goody bags. If you’re not running it’s a great way to ensure the event is a success. To find out more please email [email protected] or contact us using the contact form below.
