Organiser's Description
A fast out and back course with lots of PB potential through Bath's Combe Down and Devonshire Tunnels - disused railway tunnels which until 2013 were sealed and inaccessible. This unique and truly special race takes in many of Bath's beautiful attractions, and also has the longest underground sections of any running race for each distance.
This is the last of 4 events in 2020, which offer a variety of events for all the family, with a marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k, and a Colourburst run for the kids. Start and finish will be in Brickfields Park in the middle of the City - a green park with children's playground, a great spot to sit and enjoy a picnic after the race.

Colourburst Info
There are two distances to chose from; 2km and 500m, each with multiple colour stations along the route! All runners will be given a white t-shirt to wear (small, medium or large) and we strongly recommend that you bring goggles or sun glasses to keep the colourburst out of your eyes. We also encourage mums and dads to consider a change of clothes and shoes for the car ride home :-)
These events are open for runners of all ages, particularly runners who would be too young to do our 5km race (min age 12). There is no minimum age for these colourburst runs and they are not timed events! Registration is £10 (2km), £8 for 500metres and includes a white t-shirt, custom medal and a selection of refreshments. Please note it's £2 extra to register on the day
The colourburst is infact 100% food grade corn starch with coloured dye, it is 100% safe, edible but not at all tasty so eating it is not encouraged, and 100% biodegradable.
5K & 10K Courses
5 km
This route is an officially measured accurate route. The whole route is on a fast tarmaced surface with gentle gradients of no more than 2% in only a few places on the route. This makes this a great fast course, certainly the fastest Relish Running course out there and there is a great chance of recording a PB on this route! The official course measurement reference number is 236/2201.

Marathon Details
The UK's longest underground race set in and around the World Heritage City of Bath, England - join us for a race like no other!
The Bath Marathon is a beautiful marathon making the very most of gorgeous Bath city centre and surrounding historic countryside by following off road trails in and around the city.
Format & Waves
These events are set off in waves of approximately 100 runners set off every 10mins. This is because of the relatively narrow nature of the route. Each distance (5km, 10km, Half Marathon, Marathon) will have multiple waves to choose from when you register.
The waves are organised by predicted finish time, with one wave open to runners of all predicted finish times to make it easier for people who wish to travel together. Please confer with friends and family before you register to ensure you select the same wave if you wish to start together. The different start times are fully accounted for in the results so you pick any wave and get an accurate finish time.
Competitor information
Runners with buggies are very welcome. You need to start at the back of your wave as there is some narrow, uneven ground after 150m for which it would be best if you were not in the middle of a group.
This event is not suitable for Canicross.
Please read through all the information carefully below ahead of time so you are familiar with how to arrive on site and how the waves of runners will be organised. Please check the The Two Tunnels Park & Ride service schedule in advance. Each service can hold a maximum of 90 people per journey and we are expecting 600 runners to use the service.
Please bring your own water for the before the race. We are set in a field and cannot top up our water, which is needed for runners after their race. There will be caterers on site, and there is also a corner shop nearby. Thank you for your understanding.
Schedules
Provisional schedule is shown below.
16th August PROVISIONAL Schedule
The Half Marathon and Marathon are taking in some fantastic city centre sites. We are making use of public footpaths and not closing any roads. Therefore there are places where runners will have to cross potentially busy roads. All major crossing points have either Zebra or Pelican Crossings and will also be marshalled. The marshals do not have the power to stop the traffic. You must wait and make your own decision as to when to cross the road. You may have to wait a few seconds for a light to change so please be patient and take the opportunity to catch your breath. Anyone deemed to make an unsafe road crossing by one our marshals will be disqualified. Whilst this is a race, your safety is our highest priority and the same rules of the road apply during the race as at another time – do not put yourself or others runners at risk for the sake of a few seconds!
All paths used by the race are open to the general public, many of whom use the routes as their regular walking routes. Please make the event a success by being polite and courteous to the others users of these paths so that has a positive impact on everyone involved.
There is a cut off of 3hrs for Marathon runners to reach the half marathon/marathon split. This is at approximately 13.4 miles (ie beyond where you cross the Start Line for a second time). If runners have not crossed this line after 3hrs from the start of the marathon event you will be asked to complete the Half Marathon course and you will be awarded a Half Marathon medal.
To ensure the Half Marathon and Marathon runners complete the course the runners will be required to grab a coloured elastic band at Feed Station 4, by the Bath weir in the centre of town. Half Marathon runners will be expected to be carrying 1 band when they cross the finish line, Marathon runners should be carrying 2 bands - 1 for each lap.
Please do not run with music players which have in-ear headphones, only bone conducting headphones are permitted in line with UK Athletics rules who license these events. It is very important that you can hear the marshals instructions, be aware of other users in the tunnels (think cyclists ringing their bells to come past you!) and traffic on the sections of the course that cross roads. Thank you!
Two Tunnels Code of Conduct
