Organiser's Description

Windmill Way Wander

NEW YEAR! And we are back to SRC for the Windmill Way Wander

Come and join us at our exclusive venue at Suffolk Running Centre, Church Road, Bury St Edmunds, IP29 5AX

It's a seven-hour cut off, (if you start at 9am, and 5hour event if you start at 11am).

Your race, your pace, your distance!

This race offers you a number of distance choices - 5k, 10k, Half, Full or Ultra

Those doing under a half marathon distance will travel along an out and back, being turned around required, making it a very social route.

The half marathon will be one loop, 2 loops for the full marathon and then the run to the 5k turnaround point for an ultra.

We will be utilizing the Windmill Way route

There will be an aid station of drinks and nibbles every 10k.

Parking is also included in your entry price.

The Race HQ/Base Camp is located at the start and Lap point and at the base camp we will have our water/aid station.

We have designed a Bespoke medal for the event, which you will receive at the end of the race.   Or if you choose the lucky dip finisher option (if available), you will choose from a selection of previous or finisher medal.

This route is all road.  You will pass through the villages of Higham, Gazeley, Ashley, Dalham and Denham.

This event is called the Windmill Way Wander as you will see the windmill at Dalham.  Prior to this if you look to the left, you will note some great views of Dalham Hall.

Whilst this is a road event, it does have rolling hills and an elevation of around 600ft.

Please note the event has gone cupless - so please bring your own bottles or cups for refilling.

Great organisation, both at start and end of the race. Great choice of drinks and cakes. However, I did the 10k …. myself a couple of other 10k finishers noted that our running watches said we’d only done 9.8km … one actually went out and added another 200m jog just to bring their running watch up to 10km. Be interested to hear if that was a general error on this course. Was the turn around point 100m short of where it should have been ? Not too fussed, as I was enjoying the run and the atmosphere but for “accuracy, I’m adding another minute or so to my stated finish time. Otherwise, rating would have been a 5. Very enjoyable, and friendly crowd.

Great event, with friendly staff helping along the way! If you don't mind a few hills then I'd recommend it! Plus great cake post race!

The race was very well run (pun intended). The route was well marked, there were nice treats at the end, and the medals are quite impressive. Highly recommended!

Friendly organisers. Route mostly well marked - one or two spots where it wasn't clear but just followed the runner ahead of me. There was an aid station at around the halfway point if needed. Route was quite scenic, all road but with very few cars as it turned out. A fair bit of elevation. We were well supplied with food and drink at the end. Nice medal.
