Wye Valley Brewery Sportive

Sun 26th April 2020

Starting at 10:30

2 races

£20.80 - £31.08

Organiser's Description

This early season sportive, set in the beautiful rolling Herefordshire countryside between the Malverns and the Wye Valley, is a fantastic adventure, from one of the best breweries in the West Midlands. With two scenic routes to choose from - 60km (37 miles) and 85 km (53 miles) - this sportive is for everyone!

These stunning routes are set in an area labelled the 'Hop Shires', and take riders along quiet Herefordshire lanes, around the verdant local landscape with plenty to admire in the distinctive red soils, hop farms, apple orchards and views of Hay Bluff and the distant Welsh mountains.

After tracking the route of the River Wye, the longer ride skirts the Much Marcle ridge before heading up towards the Malvern Hills, the inspiration behind many of the works by Edward Elgar, not least of all the rousing Land of Hope & Glory.

The roads on the first half of route were atrocious however the second half was great ! Lovely staff from Let's Go Velo although the 2nd feed station run out of electrolyte which was dissapointing. The food was sold out and wrapped up early at the brewery and I got the impression they weren't really arsed about the event.
Hi Peter, We create routes that concentrate on country lanes with low traffic and this can lead to some of the roads being a bit more worn than your typical B roads. We always try to have full stocked food station but can not always guarantee that everything will be available as some cyclists take more than others. Again this is the same for catering at each oil our events. I feel this review is a little harsh as we put so much effort into each event as this review does not reflect that.

Great ride, if you’re into climbing then this ride is for you (16) typical UK short but lumpy. Fantastic area to ride through with great views,
