Chilterns Trail Marathon

Sat 11th April 2026

Three runners smile and wave as they run on a grassy trail, wearing race gear and bibs under blue skies. Text reads “Chilterns Trail Marathon” and “Run the Wild.” Wooden fences and trees line the path. Two women are running on a grassy trail. One is wearing a pink jacket and a headband, waving with her left hand, and the other is in a gray jacket. Both are smiling and seem to be enjoying their run. Trees are visible in the background under an overcast sky. Two smiling women wearing sportswear finish a race together, arms raised in celebration. Other runners and parked cars are in the background. A yellow "Run the Wild" banner is on the left, and a dog sits near spectators on the right. Two men wearing blue shirts and caps congratulate each other outdoors; one has a medal around his neck and both appear to be participating in a sporting event or race, standing in front of leafy bushes. A man wearing sunglasses, a headband, and knee supports runs on a forest trail, smiling, with several other runners following behind him among tall trees and green foliage. Three people run along a grassy path next to a wooden fence in a rural area. The woman in front smiles, while two others follow behind. Trees and fields are visible in the background under a clear sky. A group of runners in athletic gear jogs down a grassy path beside a fence and trees. The man in front, wearing sunglasses and a red vest, raises his arms and smiles at the camera. A group of runners, dressed in athletic gear, cross a small wooden bridge in a forest with tall trees and dappled sunlight filtering through the branches.

Organiser's Description

Our guided trail marathon is a great way to complete this iconic distance. With the support of a qualified guide, a team atmosphere and a well stocked checkpoint a long the way you’re in for a great day out on the trails. The run incorporates parts of the Ridgeway, one of Britain’s oldest routes, as well as lesser known paths and trails.

Our English Athletics qualified Run Leaders will offer tips on techniques, handle all aspects of navigation, as well as teach you about the local area. Hopefully, we will see some of the wildlife on the route including deer and red kites. We combine both technical single track trails, along with popular local routes, taking in Nature Reserves, and passing through the infamous Wendover Woods.

Along the way you will experience our famous hospitality and enjoy a well stocked refreshment point and be rewarded at the finish with a unique wooden Run the Wild finisher’s medal! The event will finish by around 3pm depending on your pace.

Take on this challenge and give your motivation a boost with this stunning guided trail run of 26.2 miles through the Chiltern Hills.

100% recommend this event! This is the best way to tackle the marathon distance on trails: our run leader (Celine) was so supportive, encouraging and positive. The aid station was in a village hall and felt like a kids' party! Great range of food and drinks and always a warm welcome by the amazing team at Run the Wild. The husband and wife team did a perfect job of signing everyone in and making everyone feel welcome, and pumped to go! Beautiful course and would definitely do this again.
Dear Catherine Thank you so much for your review and we're so pleased you enjoyed the event! We hope to welcome you back again on another running adventure with us! Best wishes Team RtW 🤩🤟
