Bristol is one of those cities that looks deceptively easy for running until you hit the first climb. Ashton Court has enough elevation to hurt on tired legs, and the Clifton Downs are brilliant training ground but you'll be feeling them in your quads by mile 20. The Harbourside and the River Avon trail give you the flatter miles where you can make up time, but this is a hard place for a marathon, and you'll use every bit of the preparation you've put in.
