Organiser's Description

This is one of the most scenic events in the Country, and there's a trail run here for all the family - 1k, 3k, 6k, 10k, Half Marathon and Marathon distances, across Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip Hills. Cheddar Gorge is steep in places and very steep everywhere else, and the terrain is varied and exciting! The routes will take in breathtaking views and lung aching ascents, most notably the affectionately dubbed 'Hell Steps', from where you will experience wonderful cliff top running along the Gorge edge.

Amazing custom medals for all finishers.

The Challenge will be part of the Top of the Gorge Festival, which will be a celebration of everything outdoors, with many activities taking place across the weekend of 12-14th June.

Parking

There is a day parking area for runners taking part in a race for the day only. People who have purchased camping or glamping tickets will be directed into the site and towards the appropriate part of the festival site. There is no charge for parking.

Event Details

There is a cut off of 3hrs for Marathon runners to reach the Marathon split for lap 2. This is at approximately 13.2 miles, be careful not to rely on your GPS for this measurement as it is not uncommon for them to lose signal around the route. If runners have not crossed this line after 3hrs they will be asked to complete the Half Marathon course.

No race numbers are being posted out, all numbers will be available to collect on the day.

Events are set off in waves of approximately 100 runners every 10mins.

Aim to arrive on site 90mins before the start of your wave. This is because we are part of a bigger festival this year so we need to allow extra time for parking

This event is not suitable for Canicross or buggies.

The course is beautiful and very challenging- nobody will be getting a PB on it! The only issue was the lack of clarity on start times. I was never sent an explicit timing and when I arrived (having queued for 30mins to get into the carpark) I had missed wave one- it was luck that I was actually in a later wave.

Race was great a real challenging course well organised and a great atmosphere. Plenty of hydration stations and the whole course covered by great marshals. However please find a photo of the medals issued since 2019 as all photos on relish and etch rock sites are very very misleading.

Well organized race, easy to follow route. I did the half marathon and there were plenty enough feed and water stations. Would definitely do another race with Relish.
