Larmer Tree; Marathon, 20 Miles, Half Marathon, 10km, 10km Canicross

Sun 8th March 2026

A sunlit forest scene with tall trees, fallen leaves covering the ground, and patches of sunlight streaming through the branches on a clear day. A long, wet road leads through open iron gates towards a distant green field, flanked by trees and old houses under a partly cloudy blue sky. A large, dark wooden structure with classical columns frames a painted mural depicting a scenic landscape with trees, buildings, and a cloudy sky, set outdoors among greenery and trees. People are walking and running along a wide, grassy path surrounded by lush, green trees in a sunlit park or forest. The path stretches into the distance with groups of people scattered along it. A red and white pavilion-like monument with four columns and arched openings stands in a grassy field under a cloudy sky, topped with three domed cupolas. Trees and a distant forest are visible in the background.

Organiser's Description

Why run at the Larmer Tree
The Larmer Tree Gardens are the start and finish of the event which takes place in the wider Rushmore Estate. Larmer Tree is a wedding venue with ornate buildings throughout the gardens and free roaming peacocks which are synonymous with the Larmer Tree events. Runners will register in the Larmer Tree buildings and are free to explore the grounds after the event.

The Rushmore Estate sits in the Cranborne Chase National Landscape and the route will take you around the stunning chalk valleys and through woodlands which were once the private hunting forests of monarchs over 800 years ago. We will take you through the forests with tree lined avenues and along elevated ridges.

Cut Offs: There is a 3hr cut off for runners to start Lap 2 of the marathon (approx 21.5km), with an overall finish time of 7hrs in mind. There is a cut off of 4hrs for runners to complete the big lap (13 miles) of the 20 mile course. There are no cut offs for the other distances, though please note the races are not open to pure walkers, but we always welcome people who will do a mix of run, jog and walk their way around our routes.

Format: We set off runners in waves of ~100 runners so everyone has plenty of space to enjoy their run. When you register you will be given the option to select a wave, please share your wave selection with your friends or family so you can start together.

Drinks Stations: There is 1 feast station on the 10km, 3 feast stations on the Half Marathon, 5 Feast Stations on the 20 Miler and 7 feast stations on the Marathon. There will be water, electrolyte to drink and a mix of food including GF, DF and vegan snacks around the course and again at the finish.

Medals: All runners of 5km and longer distances will take home a large 10cm x 10cm, 2 sided medal specific to this event. Fun run medals may be a mix of designs.
