Great North Swim

To regulate the number of swimmers in the water at any one time and improve the event experience for everyone, we’ve made a change to the entry system for 2019’s Great North Swim.

When you enter the 2019 event we’ll ask you to choose your distance and pick a general time slot to swim it in. We’ll then allocate specific waves six weeks before the event. You’ll get an email from us letting you know your exact swim time.

If you want to swim with someone else, we recommend making sure you enter on the same day, or register together as a group entry. If you don’t register as a group and are allocated a different wave to your swim buddy, we’ll be able to accommodate changes once the waves have been allocated but this will be on a first come first served basis.

250m: Friday 16:00 - 17:00; Saturday 14:00 - 16:00; Sunday 10:00 - 14:30

Half Mile: Friday 16:00 - 17:00; Saturday 09:00 - 10:00; Sunday 10:00-14:00

1 Mile: Friday 14:00 - 16:00; Saturday 09:30 - 15:00; Sunday 10:00 - 13:00

2 Miles: Friday 14:00 - 15:00; Sunday 09:30 - 11:30

5k: Friday 12:00 - 14:00; Sunday 07:30 - 09:00

10k: Friday 12:00 - 13:00; Sunday 07:30 - 09:00

The Swim250 (250 metres) is a great choice if you’re looking to try the open water for the first time, or if you’d like to swim with the family.

• All 8 – 12 year olds must be accompanied by an adult
• Anyone aged 13 years old and over can take on the swim as an individual
