An open water lake swim in the serene waters of beautiful Lake Windermere, England's largest lake, surrounded by some of our most spectacular scenery. This is Europe’s biggest open water swimming event, with over 10,000 participants taking part over 3 days. Choose from 0.5mile, 1 mile, 2 miles, 5k, and, new for 2016, a 10k marathon swim - it really is a brilliant challenge for swimmers of all abilities, from first timers to Olympic champions, safe in the knowledge that expert safety kayakers will be there every stroke of the way. 9-11 June.

Shame about the weather. I’ve done the Great Scottish Swim organised by the same people and like that one this swim was a really very well run event with lots of swimmers involved, plenty of safety crew and a good fun atmosphere. You get your result immediately and plenty of places to celebrate afterwards. The tricky weather shortened the mile circuit which was a shame but totally understandable. Definitely going again next year although I’ll be sure to be better prepared for how cold it can be in Windermere!
