Norfolk Festival Of Running - 5K, 10K, HALF, FULL & ULTRA MARATHON

Norfolk Festival of Running - following the success if our first year, we are back for our 3rd year at the beautiful Bawsey Country Park

LOCATION:  Bawsey Country Park, PE32 1EP
The park is located on the B1145 between the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Gayton
 

At the Norfolk Festival of Running, you will join like-minded runners doing different distances. Options include 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, Full Marathon or Ultra Marathon.

There is a six-hour event cut off, (if you start at 9am, and 4hour event cut off if you start at 11am)

A heavy half marathon as standard will be 5 laps (but there is the option to change this on the day to 6 or 7).  An ultra marathon as standard will be 9 laps (but there is the option to increase this, according to time available e.g. upto 12 laps)

You may be completing your first official 5k,10k, Half Marathon, Full Marathon or even ultra-Marathon, or it may be your 100th or 1000th.

This race is also ideal for those who want to try and achieve a Marathon distance and for those who also want the option to push a little further, possibly an ultra but without the complications of trail ultras, with next to no navigation, no kit required, an aid station every lap and straightforward logistics.        

Route description
The Norfolk lakeside venue — a flat, almost entirely off-road out-and-back that loops around the water at Bawsey Country Park on sandy/gravel park trails. There's next to no climb (26 m, and that's counting the return), so it's fast and forgiving underfoot-permitting — a proper flat, scenic 5k. Turn at halfway and retrace back to the start; one out-and-back is your 5k, and it stacks up for the longer distances.5.3 km (3.3 mi) · out-and-back · all trail (99% off-road) · flat, just 26 m of climb · high 20 m / low 10 m.

On the day

You will see the start area from the car park. On arrival proceed to registration to collect your bib numbers.         

Please leave belongings in your vehicles.  There will be no baggage but you will pass by the car park each lap.

The Race HQ/Base Camp is located at the start and Lap point we will have our water/aid station, the Race director will call you all to the start line.  It will be a mass start.        

Please note the event has gone cupless - so please bring your own bottles or cups for refilling.        

The terrain consists of sand, gravel and grass areas.  Our suggestion is to wear road trainers, but depending on the weather before the event you may want to bring trails if you have them but not essential. This is a trail event.

We have designed a Bespoke medal for the event, which you will receive at the end of the race. (Unless you have chosen the Finishers Medal Option your medal choice will be a standard finisher medal)

We will have virtual spaces available for anyone who wants the run for the medal but cannot make the event date. These are only available on our Zig Zag Running website
