A cartoon illustration of a gray rhinoceros with a playful expression, depicted in various stances. The word "MATU" is integrated into the design. The image includes color guides and a banner below that reads "MATUMAINI: The Rhinos' Hope" along with logos. A group of people stand together under a "Phoenix Running" tent, smiling and raising their hands in celebration. They are dressed in various running attire and wear medals around their necks. Trees and sunlight are visible in the background. A group of people in athletic wear gather outside a pub named "The Weir." Some are sitting at picnic tables, chatting and relaxing, while others stand and converse. The atmosphere appears to be social and casual, with greenery and sunny weather in the background. A large group of runners in athletic gear start a race on a paved pathway surrounded by trees. Some runners wear hats and numbered bibs, and the atmosphere is lively and competitive. The event is marked as the Phoenix Spring Marathon 2017. A group of people dressed in athletic gear, many wearing medals around their necks, pose together outdoors near a river with trees in the background. Some are kneeling, some standing, and some sitting on the ground, smiling happily for the photo.

Organiser's Description

This event is going to be really rather special as we've teamed up once again with Chris 'Rhino Boy' Green to raise money for the Save the Rhino Charity. And, as if that wasn't enough, we're also introducing you to the first in a very special, limited edition, series of medals based on the illustrations from Chris's children's book - its 'Matu' the baby Rhino from 'Matumani - The Rhino's Hope'. My little girls love this story and so we've brought Matu to life on her very own Save the Rhino medal. You simply have to have this cute little lady in your bling collection.

So come and join us for one of our very popular timed events, with a marathon specific option, where you choose from 5km to 10km, half marathon to ultra marathon, you can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, out and back, course along the beautiful river Thames. We welcome all abilities of runner - complete one lap and you're both a finisher and a winner in our eyes, or keep going and see how far you can get in the full 7 hour time limit and everyone gets to chose fabulous bespoke finishers' medal.

We also operate our uniquely flexible 'rock up and run' start times within a 1 hour start window, so no waiting around if you arrive early and no added pressure if you're running a bit late. If you have any special start time requirements then just get in touch because depending on the distance you are planning to run we can pretty much accommodate all start time requests.

As this is a charity fundraiser for Save the Rhino we've also added the option to donate a few extra pennies or pounds to Save the Rhino when you sign up. You can select from a down and every penny with go to this amazing charity.

Not sure? Well the beauty of this format is that you don't even need to decide in advance - simply come and run a lap and see how you feel on the day and keep on going if it feels right.

Places will be strictly limited so don't leave it too late to enter.

Minimum distance is 3.28 miles or as far as you can go in 7 hours.

Off road trail, the terrain is riverside towpath. The overall course has no elevation gain / loss making this a flat and fast route.
