If you want to “Tri a Triathlon” or are an experienced Triathlete we have distances & challenges to suit you within this fun & friendly triathlon.

The Shropshire Triathlon has been held at the fabulous venue of The Mere at Ellesmere since 1992.

The Mere in Ellesmere was awarded the Green Flag Award for eight years in a row, recognising it as one of the best parks in the world.

Parking

There are numerous car parks around Ellesmere, some are pay and display. Allow plenty of time to park and walk to race registration. Some of the car parks are a 15 minute walk.

FAQs

  • Do I need to wear a wetsuit?

    If you are taking part in the Olympic or Olympic Relay, wetsuits are compulsory. For the Sprint and Sprint Relay, wetsuits are not compulsory. However, if you wish to wear one for these distances then that isn’t a problem.

Please take some time to read all the event information, it will make it far more enjoyable for you and reduce the need to ask questions on the day. You can use this information as a guide for your event.

Full and up to date competitor race day information with your race number and start time will be emailed to you 7-10 days before the event. Please check spam/junk folders.

WE DO NOT POST ANYTHING OUT - you will collect your race numbers, stickers, etc. at registration on the day.

Shropshire Olympic Triathlon will start from 7:00am.

Shropshire Sprint Triathlon will start from 7:40am.

Every competitor will receive their own start time, the times provided above are a rough guide to help you plan any transport/accommodation/childcare needs that may arise. These are only a guide and subject to change.

The registration tent will be open for the duration of the event. We advise all participants to collect their Race Pack at least one hour before their start time.

Prize presentations will only take place once all participants in that field have crossed the finish line.

Share the Swim, Bike, Run with friends and create your own relay team.

Choose your favourite discipline, then invite friends or teammates to join and complete your relay team.

(Age restrictions apply)

HOW IT WORKS

A relay team can consist of two or three people.

Each member of the relay team completes one or two of the three disciplines in the triathlon.

The swimmer completes the swim, then the swimmer passes the electronic chip to the cyclist inside the cycle transition area.

The cyclist completes the cycle course and passes the electronic chip to the runner in the transition area.

The runner completes the run and hands in the electronic chip at the finish line.

All team members can cross the finish line together and collect their medals.
