Tower to Castle ULTRA 30

​The route is 9.3 miles of Promanade (28%); 0.2 mile sea crossing (0.06%); 6 miles quiet country roads (18%); 15miles on coastal paths, disused railway loosely paves (53.4%) Elevation is +472 ft (+144m) and -413 ft (-126m).

The course follows signage on the promenade, coastal paths and road sections with the country trail part being way-marked. In some places where there are road crossings we will have a marshal to guide runners and calm traffic.

When you book a place on the Tower to Castle ULTRA 30, you can expect a comprehensive and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Prior to the event, participants will receive a detailed race pack containing essential information, including the race route, event schedule, and tips for race day preparation.

On the day of the event, you can anticipate a well-organised and welcoming atmosphere.

Runners will be provided with a high-quality race bib, personalised with their name and pre-attached chip timing tag. There will be ample parking and clear signage to guide you to the start line. Participants will have access to baggage storage transport tomthe finish too. Throughout the race, there will be strategically placed aid stations, as well as enthusiastic volunteers offering support and encouragement. After crossing the finish line, runners will receive a commemorative blingtastic medal.

There are 3 check points, each will have water, and a selection of supplementary snacks. A drink will be available for all athletes at the finish. Check point locations can be found on the route map, which is released closer to event day.

Return coaches back to Blackpool will be available for all entrants at a cost of £7.00 and must be pre booked when registering. Return times are 2.00pm and 5.00pm (dependant on traffic conditions on the day).

We will transfer a single competitor bag to the finish, so you have warm, dry clothes waiting for you . Your bag should be no larger than a UK airport carry-on bag size (56 x 45 x 25 cm). Your kit bag can be dropped at registration before the start of the event and will be transported to the finish at Lancaster. A baggage label can be found in your race pack, which will need to be securely attached to your bag. If you fail to complete the run, you will need to collect your kit bag from the finish or from our events office within 5 days. After this time, bags will be disposed of.

Although largely a trail event, due to the nature of the event, you will be passing through some urban areas and there are inevitably some road crossings where it will be necessary to slow and possibly stop. No roads are closed. Particular attention should be given at these points.

As always, if you see a runner experiencing difficulties, please inform Checkpoint Marshals/Race HQ. Emergency contact details can be found in your race pack. Our team will always endeavour to reach any participant in difficulty but due to inaccessibility of the Trail this can take time. Participants who lose time helping another fallen participant, struggling against the cut off time due to this reason, can claim this time back, subject to Race Director discretion and under the proviso of completing within their new, extended cut off period.

You must pre-register for the event as there will be no entries on the day due to the nature of the event. Entries will close on 21 September unless the event limit has been reached. Due to the strenuous physical demands of running 30 miles in one day Tower to Castle is restricted to competitors over 18 years of age only.
