How to Get There

By road from the North
M5 Junction 7, A44 Worcester to next roundabout, then left & follow Worcester West to 2nd roundabout, left A38 to Tewkesbury for seven miles, turn right onto the A4104 to Upton and follow signs to the triathlon.


By road from the South
M5 Junction 8, M50 to Junction 1, follow A38 Malvern, then at roundabouts follow A38 Worcester (A4104 Malvern), after 3 miles turn left onto the A4104 to Upton and follow signs to the triathlon.

Parking

Car parking will be signposted off the A4104.

750M / 1500M
Open water swim in the River Severn. Dependant on your event will determine the distance you need to swim.
The river water is tested in line with B.T.F guidance. If the river is not safe to swim in, the race will become a duathlon (i.e. run/bike/run). There will always be a risk of illness when swimming in open water.
To minimise the risk competitors should wash hands before eating or drinking anything (including after handling your wetsuit), aim to swim away from the edges where the flow is greater and water quality better, ensure any wounds are covered with a waterproof dressing and try to avoid drinking any river water.

Bike: 21KM / 42KM
The bike route follows wide open roads out in the countryside with a total 57m climbing in 1 lap. The standard distance is 2 laps.

Run: A largely flat 5km circuit, approximately 2km on tarmac, 2km on a private gravel farm track, 1km on a grass footpath.
The standard distance is 2 laps.
Sprint & 2nd run for duathlon: 5km; Standard: 10km.
The first run stage of the duathlon will be 2.5km of the same course.

Relay: Not sure about doing a whole triathlon? Enter a team of 3 people into either the sprint or the standard distance triathlon. One person completes the swim, the second cycles and then the third does the run.

  • Upton Tri+ reserve the right to alter any of the course if circumstances require them to do so. If Stage 2 or 3 Covid restrictions are in place it will be a time trial (i.e. one at a time) start not wave start & additional social distancing measures will need to be in place to ensure everyone's safety.

CAMPING

Camping and caravanning facilities will be available onsite on Fish Meadow, including hot showers and washbasins, water, toilets and refuse points. (No electricity points).

This will be available on Friday and Saturday nights only for £12 per person (regardless of number of nights). Children under 12 are free. Please book in advance.

The 4th discipline...
Here are some tips to make race day a little bit smoother.
1) Layout your kit in the order you need it. (Always put helmet on first!)
2) What row are you in?
3) Make a note of how far you are from "swim in", walk the route and count the steps, it will help you remember your racking slot when you come out of the water.
4) Look for landmarks (Flags, kiosks, trees) level with your space to give a visual reference to where your spot is. (once you get near you should see the bike and your towel.
5) Don't panic, slow is smooth, smooth is fast!
By doing the above you can save minutes off your time, practice putting your kit on and off, it will make you efficient come race day!
