Organiser's Description

River Thames Running’s flagship event celebrates its 12th year in 2025. One of South West London’s major running events, the Hampton Court Half Marathon is highly rated as preparation for a Spring marathon or a major distance race in its own right:

7 weeks before the Brighton Marathon

10 weeks before the London & Manchester Marathon

This is the original Hampton Court Half Marathon and is run over a fast, flat and visually interesting course that borders the river-side grounds of the magnificent Hampton Court Palace to the South West of London. King Henry VIII and his Tudor entourage will be there to cheer everyone on!

Runners enjoy an initial closed road loop around the picturesque village of Thames Ditton, pass through the historic Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames ancient marketplace, follow the iconic 3 mile stretch of the Barge Walk beside the Thames, and reach the magnificent Hampton Court Palace after 10 miles. The route follows pavement, pedestrian/cycle track, riverside way, and tarmac paths through parks and is well recognised for its PB potential.

All finishers will receive a top tech tee and a bespoke finisher medal.

Route was great, really shame that they don’t give you a medal at the end. Instead you got a mug…
Hi Jessica, we will be returning to medals next year. Thanks for your review, Race Director Tom

Great route. Well organised. Parking easy. Muddy part of route, which made a little slower running but that can't be helped. Would run it again. Star marked off as water was in cups instead of bottles, I had to stop to drink. I understand environment but not on a half marathon. Or at least one station with bottled water. I had dissolvable tablets, which I couldn't use. Really annoying. A bag to carry all the goodies in at the end. Lastly , the queue for medals was ridiculously long.
Hi Andrea, thanks for your review. Race organisers are under pressure to increasingly use more environmentally friendly water stations from the council and also runners. As an industry it's the right way to go. I'm glad you enjoyed the route (despite the amount of rain we had!) and thanks for your review, Race Director Tom

Great event, nice route. A lot better than expected. Was a little concerned about non closed road sections, but all fine and went really well. If they can turn down the wind next time that would be great!!

Cracking event. This was my first race and in my home town. To someone who has no prior experience of these events, I was really pleased with the organisation. The Marshalls were great, the organisation was well thought through and I felt very aware of how things worked in advance. The course was very flat with gorgeous views over the river. They even brought the sun out and I managed to knock 6 minutes off my PB!

A well planned route. Lots of Marshalls and encouragement from locals, a good amount of stash and a nice medal, Henry the 8th and his courtiers dressed up to greet you as you ran past the palace. A great flat route too. Highlight was the number of people helping afterwards - cutting race tags off shoes was a real bonus! Will 100% do again

Perfect route and weather conditions..... Highly recommend this half marathon for the flat running and enthusiastic marshalls. Well organised and scenic views, just not sure it’s a ‘Hampton Court’ related run, only saw that location for a few hundred yards! Park & Ride recommended and the brightest technical short I’ve ever seen!
