Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire

Dairy Lane, Hambleden, Henley-on-Thames RG9 3AS, UK

Sat 4th December 2021

Organiser's Description

2021 hasn't started the way we originally planned which has meant finding space at the end of the year for our January and February events. As such the Dark Oxfordshire event will now be held on Saturday December 4th - the same day as the Original Oxfordshire event -. This means there is the unique opportunity to run not one, but TWO Maverick Race events on a single day, in a single location! We’ve set up a 20% discount for those of you who want to run the double (Original in the morning, Dark in the afternoon). So what are you waiting for? 2 Medals, 1 day… we can’t see any reasons not too.

Welcome to the Maverick USE Exposure Dark Series Oxfordshire. If you enjoy trail running in the daylight then you are in for a real treat running in the dark! It's an amazing experience; your senses are heightened, you immerse yourself deep in the surroundings, with your head torch on the trails streak past you at warp speed, you concentrate on making that perfect foot placement so as not to take a tumble.

Oxfordshire Dark - why not! Starting and finishing in the Culden Faw Estate, which is split by the River Thames and nestled in the Chiltern Hills, this location can only be described as quintessential middle England. We love the Oxfordshire Original Series event, so it was only fitting that we experience this area in the dark. The 3 routes are all set in the estate which is home to fallow deer and wallabies......yep, we have actually seen a wallaby there! All the routes are relatively challenging and with 3 to choose from, there is something for everyone.

Such a fun experience to race in the dark! Had a great festival vibe with music and fire pits. The route was well marked and the fuelling stations had a great selection of fuel :) I’ll definitely be back!
