The super successful Saturday morning Salty Sea dog Series is back!

Now a series of 4 events over the summer 2025 season. Not only do we have our infamous Salty sea dog Triathlon series with the Super Sprint and Sprint distances.We now have an epic Duathlon series with also Super Sprint & Sprint distances.

To add to our Salty sea dog event series, we are now also delighted to have a fast & flat 5km & 10km Run Series !!

All these events enjoy the stunning coastline, taking in views around the bay and the Isle of Wight !

It's time to get Salty ! see you on the beach !

Perfect for novices looking for their first multi-sport event and great for all athletes wanting to keep sharp throughout the season.

Course Details

Transition:
The transition area is in a corner of the large car park on hard standing.

Swim:
It is a 375m swim lap that is done once for the super sprint (375m) and twice for the sprint (750m). Swimmers can expect a couple of waves if the surf is up!

Bike:
Turn left out of the car park, up and along the Overcliff drive to Boscombe. Turn at the roundabout ( the one hill down then up to get those legs and legs pumping and return to Hengistbury Head. For the super sprint, it is 1 lap (11.7km) and for the sprint, it is 2 laps (23.4km)

Run:
The run is as flat as a pancake and is along the seafront promenade. The Super Sprint is a 2.5km out and back and the Sprint is a 5km out and back. The 1st circa 300 meters is on the beach before the promenade and the finish is also on the beautiful beach.

Please park at the Hengistbury head car park (BH6 4EL or Sobo beach (BH6 4BE) to allow transition to be as free as possible. Please be aware you will need time to get from the car park to registration. (10min min)

event rules

As part of the entry system to the event all participants agree to the following:

Participants must read the event information pack before attending the event. This now replaces the physical event briefing

All cyclists will wear a correctly fitted BS-EN cycle helmet

Cycles must have working front and rear brakes and all equipment must be in good serviceable order

Drafting and riding in groups is not permitted

Whilst cycling on the promenade section between the highway and transition area cyclists must keep their speed to no more than 10mph and maintain a good lookout for other promenade users

All cyclists will adhere to the rules and regulations of the highway code

spectators

Excellent location to relax at whilst your athlete is racing around. The trendy beach area of Southbourne is just a short walk away for a post-race coffee and breakfast.

Salty Sea Dog Super Sprint Triathlon 9/8/25 Amazing event. Quite challenging! Great organization. Many thanks to all involved. And special thanks to the safety marshalls in the sea in canoes / kayaks who were vigilant and alert and very helpful. Gord.

Well organised, great venue, parking and toilets. Lots of safety cover for the swim, well signed ride and run route. I was near the back of the pack and unfortunately no water at the drinks station on the run and not enough space in transition. Would do this race again.

Fantastic event! A great challenge on the bike, and great to have a sea swim too! Beautiful location, & even the early morning start wasn’t too bad. Thanks to all the organisers!

A great little event in a brilliant location with plenty of parking and amenities Race entry and competitors information was easy to read and follow Course was well marked and marshalled the bike course was a little tight at the start and as it was such a hot day lots of traffic and pedestrians (this was mentioned in race briefing) The run was a very simple out and back along the seafront Nice Medal and merchandise I did feel the bike course was missing one Marshall at one intersection And finding the retails/timings was a bit of a challange to find as the link didn’t seem to work not a course if your PB hunting but a fab friendly and fun first time event or looking to add a sea swim event into your races I would recommend it
