We will be following all government and local guidelines at the time of the event. Obviously, the pandemic is evolving all the time so we will inform you about the exact guidelines that we will be using in our pre-race email that you'll receive 10 days before the event date.

Rasselbock Running has provided covid-19 safety information for this event.

Organiser's Description

Join us for the Summer edition of The Rasselbock Run. A six-hour challenge on a looped trail course that weaves through the undulating trails of Sherwood Pines Forest.

You may attempt to complete as many laps as possible over the full six hours, or you may choose to finish just one, the choice is yours and you don't have to decide how far you're running until you're running!

The loop at Sherwood Pines is exactly 5.46km long which means if you complete 4 laps you have done a half marathon, 8 laps, a full marathon and 9 laps or more will be classed as an Ultra.

At Rasselbock we like to put on events how we'd like to have them. No stress, pressure, a great bunch of runners, and a small entry pool so everyone can meet each other. You can decide on the day how far you'd like to run so there are no worries if you're having a "bad running day". Just complete one lap of the event and you're classed as a finisher.

How to Get There

The nearest train stations are Mansfield and Retford. Mansfield has a public bus to the county park roughly every 15 minutes (Bus No. 14, 15 or 15A to Archway Road or Sherwood Pines). This does vary at the weekend and it is always best to check the timetables before booking. After the bus, there is around a 1-mile walk into the forest to the start line. Usually, on a Sunday morning, it is best to pre-book a taxi to the start line. If you are staying overnight before the event and using public transport, then I would recommend looking at places to stay in Edwinstone, Clipstone, or Ollerton. All are a very short taxi ride from the forest.

There is a large car park with Sherwood Pines Forest which we are permitted to use. There is a charge for the car park which we, unfortunately, cannot offer a discount on.

As always we encourage people to car share or use public transport as much as possible when coming to our events. Not only does this mean we help the environment a little but it also means that people get to know each other a little more and you can share the costs of petrol and the car park!

If you are looking for a lift or have space in your car, then make sure you post in our Team Rasselbock Facebook group to see who else is heading that way.

The park will be open from 8am, and from the car park area you will need to head towards the visitor center (the only buildings on the site). With the center on your right and GO Ape on your left, keep walking down the pathway until you see the large Rasselbock flags at the Race HQ.

Course Details

The route sets off from our own dedicated Race HQ area as we head into the forest weaving through the Pines. The route is on a mixed trail of forest floor, muddy areas, and packed gravel paths. Enough of a mix to keep the laps interesting. There are some hills included in the route for free, but nothing that you cannot manage.

Amazingly well run. My first time running one of these and was very impressed with the organisation from start to finish! Marshall’s around the track were great at some much needed motivation! And let’s not forget the free snack stand! This saved me!! Great atmosphere and really friendly. Sherwood pines is also a gorgeous route to run round! Very impressed and when my legs event recover then I’ll definitely be back. Thanks to everyone’s hard work x

Very impressed with the communication, organisation and the course. The atmosphere and camaraderie between runners was fantastic and for me so much better than a road run. Looking forward to doing another. Thank you to all the volunteers who were fantastic as well
