Three people are jogging on a forest trail during sunrise. The light filters through the trees, casting long shadows on the ground. Two of them are in dark clothing and one is in a teal top, and they run in the same direction, surrounded by tall, bare trees. The runners are spaced out, with some further along the trail and others closer to the front. Two runners in turquoise shirts celebrate while running a race on a forested trail in the morning sunlight. They hold hands and raise their arms in joy. Other runners are seen behind them on the same path. The scene is bright and filled with energy.

Organiser's Description

This event is the Saturday event of the weekend.

Here we go again, a New Year and it’s time to mix things up a little with a whole new medal design and a full weekend of running! As always the event will be a six-hour challenge on a looped course around the beautiful forest which is looked after by the UK Forestry Commission. You may attempt to complete as many laps as possible over the full six hours, or you may choose to finish just one, either way, you will be a finisher and receive your bespoke medal.

As the event was so popular in 2024, we have decided to take over the forest for the full weekend, giving you a run on the Saturday and then reversing the loop for you all on the Sunday! If can join us for one or for both events.

The loop at Sherwood Pines is exactly 5.79km long which means if you complete 4 laps you have done a half marathon, 8 laps, a full marathon and 9 laps or more will be classed as an Ultra.

At Rasselbock we like to put on events how we'd like to have them. No stress, or pressure, a great bunch of runners, and a small entry pool so everyone can meet each other. You can decide on the day how far you'd like to run so there are no worries if you're having a "bad running day". Just complete one lap of the event and you're classed as a finisher.

We really enjoyed the race and both set personal bests for ourselves. My wife ran 18 miles (5 laps) and I ran 32.5 miles (9 laps), all within the 6 hour allotted time. The setting, Sherwood Pines, was an undulating course with a couple of hill climbs. There was a mixture of compacted gravel path and woodland. The woodland parts were particularly fun. I wore road shoes for the event, which turned out to be fine.
