This was my third time taking part in the Alderford Triathlon and it's becoming a favourite fixture. The event is well run and the organisers are friendly and welcoming to all abilities. I like that there is one transition area, and it's fairly close, so transition is fairly quick. In previous years, the swimming leg has been fantastic, but sadly this year there was the dreaded Blue Green Algae, so for safety they had to add to cut this and add extra running. This is a shame for me as swimming is my favourite element and running is my hardest, but I still really liked the day. The cycle is beautiful, the roads are fairly quiet except for the main road on the way back, but this is wide enough that even a wobbly, inexperienced cyclist like me didn't feel pressured. All the turns were left and, there were no crossings to worry about either. All the potholes and dips were clearly marked. The final run has a lot on grass which can be draining on the legs (as I said before, running is my weaker element) but they did trim it well, it's flat and there was a beautiful variation in scenery with the garden, the field, the woods, the lakeside and a short bit of welcom gravel path! I'm looking forward to next year already.
