Event summary

The 20.23 KM Cedar Challenge, organized by the Beirut Marathon Association, is a virtual event taking place from May 1st to October 31st, 2023. Participants are required to complete 20.23 KM each month over a span of 6 months, engaging in activities such as biking, running, swimming, trail running, and walking. The unique medal for this challenge is a gold map of Lebanon with an engraved cedar, symbolizing the planting of trees on Lebanese soil. International runners will receive their medals via complimentary DHL delivery. Participants can take on the challenge individually or as a team of 2, splitting the distance between them. Upon completion, a ceremony will be held in a natural reserve where 23 Cedar Trees will be planted in a dedicated forest by the BMA. This initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability within the running community and encourages participants to go green.

Organiser's Description

A virtual challenge where you need to complete 20.23 KM each month over a period of 6 months through a various list of sports; BIKE, RUN, SWIM, TRAIL, WALK.

The medal will be a gold map of Lebanon with an engraved cedar, symbolizing the planting of the trees on Lebanese soil. (All int'l runners will get their medals via DHL delivered to their address on complimentary basis)

The challenge can be completed individually or a team of 2, where they split the distance (10KM each for any activity) i.e. two team members can each swim or/and run or/and walk or/and bike 10.10 KM.

They can switch in between activities or choose one.

Upon the completion of the challenge; we will hold a ceremony in a natural reserve, whereby we will plant 23 Cedar Trees in a small BMA-dedicated forest.

Every year, we will work towards growing this forest through such initiatives with the hope of turning our running community green.
