Sun 5th May 2019

Starting at 09:00

Organiser's Description

Join 10,000 runners in this fantastic event to celebrate its 5th birthday, with a marathon, half marathon and 10k along closed roads through the heart of Southampton. Starting in the heart of the City, the fairly flat route is a stunning mix of coast, city, and parks, and a unique ascent up over the Itchen Bridge, accessing at its stunning views of the entire City, along the River and out to sea towards the Isle of Wight.

After that challenge, there is still many more delights to come, with fantastic entertainment and incredible support before a stunning finish in front of the Guildhall in the City centre.

The event ends with a 1-mile fun run for the whole family in the afternoon.

MaraFun FAQs

What’s the last date for entries?

Entries for 2019 will officially close on the 24th March 2019.

How do I get my Race number?

We will be posting out Race numbers with Race Day Information in early April to reach you well in advance of the race.

If you signed up after the 25th March - race packs will be for collection on the day. More details will be sent out closer to the time.

I am ill injured or unable to run, what can I do?

If you notify us by 18th March 2019 that you have sustained an injury and provide a doctor's note, we can defer your place.

After 18th March no deferrals will be accepted due to the high costs already involved in reserving your space. After 18th March we do offer a marshal one, get one free offer so if you come along as one of our ABP Mile Makers, this will entitle you to a free space in any of our Rees Leisure events.

Contact us - [email protected]

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds.

What if I need to change my address?

Please log back into your registration using your email address and password you supplied, this will need to be completed BEFORE 18th March 2019.

If you missed this deadline, you can pay £10 for a new race pack. Please contact [email protected] so we can help get this sorted for you and make sure you are race ready for the big day!

What happens if I have lost my password or can’t login to Active Network?

Please email us at [email protected] so we can speak to our technical team to help get this sorted for you

Can I swap my place with a friend?

Sorry no that will not be possible. Each Race number is assigned to a runner with individual medical details and it would not be safe to do so.

Do you have a waiting list?

No once all 12,000 spaces have gone, that is it for the 2019 event.

Where can I stay before the event?

Please see the 'accommodation button' for places to stay.

Can I wear earphones or use an ipod?

Anyone who is not running for a prize is now allowed to wear headphones. This is new for this year and means that if you are not competing for a podium place then you are allowed to wear earphones. If however you are aiming to be one of the fastest runners in your event then the Race rules (UKA and BARR) do not allow the use of earphones or iPods, and you may be disqualified.

It is VITAL to note that whilst this is a closed roads race, we strongly recommend that you have 1 earbud out at all times so that you can hear marshal directions, as well as awareness of other runners who may be faster than you. We will also have lots of entertainment and support on route, so you don't want to miss out on all Southampton has to offer!

How do I enter a Corporate Team?

To Register a Corporate Team you just need to add your company name to your Registration and ensure your colleagues do too. To edit your details please follow the instructions, this will need to be done BEFORE 15th March.

Can I swap down to the half or 10k?

If you feel the full marathon or half marathon is a little out of your reach you can swap back down to the half or 10km distance. Please note there will be a £5 transfer fee and you will be transferred across to the shorter distance rate at the current price.

Please contact us on [email protected] to make this amendment for you. This change will need to be made BEFORE 18th MARCH

Can I swap my 10km entry to Half place or my half to a full?

You can! Please note there will be a £5 exchange fee and you will be transferred to the half/ marathon entry at the current price (this means that there will be a price difference to pay.) Please contact us on [email protected] to make this amendment for you BEFORE 18th MARCH.

What do I do if I have a medical issue?

Please ensure you have updated all your medical information on your registration form BEFORE 18th March 2019 and contact us on [email protected] if this is something we need to be aware of before the day.

Is there a cut-off time for the full marathon?

Yes, we need you to complete lap one by 12noon please (start time 9am) and finish the full route by 3pm.

We do have motivators at the back of the race so no-one will be on their own.
