Organiser's Description

Our St Ives, Huntingdon Swimrun starts and finishes at the beautiful Pike and Eel Marina in Needingworth in Cambridgeshire. We are really honoured to be working with the RSPB for this event. We have their kind permission to run around the Fen Drayton Nature Reserve which makes this course really special.

We start the 5, 10 and 21k at the fabulous Hotel and Marina and after an epic first run along the Ouse Way we slip into the water in front of The Ferryman Pub in Holywell. An upstream swim takes the 10k and 21k out onto beautiful meadows. A downstream swim takes the 5k back towards Needingworth. All distances run along the riverside paths and around the meadows. The 10k and 21k then cross over onto the nature reserve. An awesome run around RSPB Fen Drayton brings the 10k and 21k back into the river.

Its all about river swimming with this event, with up and down stream sections for the 10 and 21k and downstream only for the 5k with naturally occuring exits and entry points. The running is mainly flat compacted track with some grass trails. The 5k is one short loop, the 10k course is one loop of the longer course and the 21k is two (which makes the 10k around 10.5k but whos counting!).

Big thanks, not only to RSPB Fen Drayton but also to the lovely village of Holywell , Needingworth cum Holywell Parish Council and our lovely local landowner, Mr James Anderson.
