Getting There

Banjul, officially The City of Banjul, formerly known as Bathurst, is the capital and fourth largest city of The Gambia. Banjul is on St Mary's Island (Banjul Island), where the Gambia River enters the Atlantic Ocean.

The Island can be accessed by road, and is connected to the mainland to the West and to the rest of Greater Banjul Area via bridges.

Ferries sail regularly to Banjul across the River Gambia from Barra, traditionally known as Niumi, a small riverside settlement located on the North bank of the River Gambia estuary.

The City is served by the Banjul International Airport.
