Buxton Athletic Club are proud to announce the 42nd Buxton Half Marathon on Sunday May 26th 2024.

The single lap route starts at Buxton’s Opera House and takes in some of the stunning Peak District countryside before returning and finishing in Buxton’s beautiful Pavilion Gardens.

Sign up and enjoy one of the most scenic and challenging Half Marathon routes in the UK and enjoy the friendly welcome and support.

Course Details

The course is a challenging route. It begins at Buxton’s Opera House, before heading out of town up the first climb along Axe Edge.
You will then head down country lanes taking in the sights of Chrome Hill, Dowel Dale, Park House Hill to name a few.
Returning back into Buxton (after a couple more climbs!) you will eventually finish in the Pavilion Gardens.
Total ascent is around 1508ft/460m

Registration and race t-shirt collection will be open from 8am in the Board Room inside the Pavilion Gardens. We advise you to arrive in good time to register (entries on the day) and collect your race T-shirt (if ordered) for the race starting at 10:00am.

There are a number of excellent food and drink vendors at the Pavilion Gardens so there will be plenty opportunity to replace the calories afterwards or for your friends and family to enjoy whilst you run!

  • If the event does not sell out in advance, there will be limited entries on the day available for £27.00 / £29.00

No competitor to get more than 1 prize ( if vet 1st,2nd,3rd etc then next vet picks up age grade prize) If V50 wins then next vet in 50 + group gets that prize.

water stations

There will be 3 water stations situated around the course. They will be at mile 2.5, at the top of the first climb, mile 7 at Glutton Bridge and mile 10 at Brierlow Bar . There will also be water at the finish line.
