The Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon has grown into one of the largest and most exciting road races in the UK. It is now one of Europe’s largest half marathons and is Wales’ largest mass participation and multi-charity fundraising event. The predominately flat and fast course makes it ideal for both beginners and elites.
The race starts outside Cardiff Castle and heads down past Cardiff City Stadium on the way to Penarth. It takes in the glorious Penarth Marina before crossing the barrage and heading to, and running right through the heart of, Cardiff Bay. It then heads towards the North of the City, completes a loop of the beautiful Roath Park Lake, before the grandstand finish in the heart of the city at the Civic Centre.
The event offers a full weekend of activities, with a host of family-friendly activities at Saturday’s Festival of Running preceding Sunday’s half marathon.
