Cranleigh 1 hour Mini Trail Run

Cranleigh Bandroom, Cranleigh, Surrey

GU6 8AF

Sun 2nd February 2020

Starting at 09:15

Organiser's Description

This event is ideal for families with children up to the age of 16, and for those who want to improve their navigation and/or trail running skills. It is equally suitable for people new to adventure racing, and who want to practice their map reading and compass skills. Athletes looking for a quick run in beautiful countryside will also enjoy this event. Canicross runners are most welcome - dogs go for free!

Trail Run only - using a 1:25k waterproof map, plan your route and navigate to as many of the 10 clip style checkpoints as possible in 1 hour. The CPs are located much closer to one another than in the other events. Unlike other events, this is not a race, so there are no prizes for those collecting the most CPs. You plan your own strategy and route, deciding how many CPs you want to visit. Distance covered depends on how many checkpoints are visited; it can be anything from 3k to around 8k, and depends on your level of fitness, and on your running and map reading skills.

Event Details

Navigate on your own or in groups for 1 hour, collecting as many as possible of the 10 check points available.

You will receive a waterproof map, a race number, and a dibber. The dibber will start and stop your hour. At each checkpoint marked on the map, there will be a clip which can be used to punch your map.

You can start the Mini Trail at any time between 9:15am and 10am, and there is also the option to set off with all the others at the 10am mass start. Minimum age to enter alone is 16.

Registration opens at 08:00am. Start from 09:15am

Visit the registration desk to collect your Race Pack which includes your marked waterproof map, race number and dibber.

The event is 1 hour long. Using your waterproof map, navigate to as many checkpoints as possible within the 1 hour limit.

There is a maximum of 10 checkpoints that can be visited in any order. Each checkpoint is worth 10 points.

Runners will incur a penalty of 1 point for every 30 seconds they are late back.

After the event, download your dibber at the registration desk and show the punches on the map, before enjoying a cup of tea/coffee and a cake.

Results will be published on-line after the event. Spot prizes may be given out on the day.

Young Adventurers – We like to encourage young Tri-Adventurers to take part in our events. We allow 8-16 year old to take part with an accompanying, responsible, fee paying adult. A waiver form will need to be signed by the adult at registration. For The Mini Trail event, each runner pays the £10 online entry fee or £15 on the day.
