Get ready for the 5th annual Devon Grit gravel event organised by Sportiva Events on Sunday 25th August 2024. This exciting event offers five route options ranging from 22K to 103K, all taking in the stunning scenery of Woodbury Common. With highlights including Woodbury Castle, the Exe Estuary path, and breathtaking views from Beacon Hill, this self-nav adventure is perfect for gravel, cyclocross, and lightweight XC mountain bikes. E-mountain bikes are also welcome to join in on the fun. Participants will receive a quality cotton T-shirt, professional chip timing, event number boards, and access to feedstations stocked with quiche, cake, water, gels, and bars. With a full Covid-19 plan in place, professional first aid, and bike recovery service, this event promises a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Organiser's Description
Our gravel event returns for a 5th year. Once again the route will be predominantly self-nav but the Micro route on Woodbury Common itself will be fully marked as there are many places where there are multiple paths close together.
All five routes take in some of the best sections of Woodbury Common. Highlights include Woodbury Castle & some great single track on the common, a section of the Exe Estuary path, a climb up for views of the sea at the top of Beacon Hill and also Mutter Moor.
The routes are designed to be ridden on a gravel bike but a cyclocross bike or a lightweight XC mountain bike will be almost as quick. e-mountain bikes are also welcome. The ride is not suitable for road bikes & minimum recommended tyre width is 35mm. 40mm+ is probably the optimum.
